Hi

Currently still trying hard to feed my 10mth old baby. She really dun like pacifier
All my BF babies also dun like the pacifier.....they know the difference between the real one and the pacifier , that's why its also called a \"dummy\" in some countries. If she does not like it, its best not to introduce cos' it also takes some effort to wean off later....

Yah… perserverance is the key to successful breastfeeding. For first kid, had engorgement in the first week until baby could not latch (also made the mistake of using bottle to feed the breastmilk as suggested by confinement lady). Very painful so had to visit lactation consultant & also could not sleep at night becos of pain. Also made the mistake of feeding on demand until I became a "pacifier" for him…With baby no.2, I somehow managed the engorgement part but had sore & cracked nipples until it was bleeding. I only knew when baby’s vomit got blood…only with baby no.3 & no.4 did I managed well without any problems. Not to mention all those "broken" sleep and changing of diapers in the middle of the night after each feed…no joke.

Hi Just wondering why there is no thread to discuss about breastfeeding issues in this forum…so decided to start this thread for mummies to share their experience & to help new mummies with this challenging but fulfilling role. I breasfed all my 4 kids for at least a year and more and is still doing so for no.4.

    • RE: How to maintain granite flooring?

      Hi

My granite flooring is still as shiny as before after more than 10 years. We only use water to mop and it gets shinier over the years…no need for detergent at all. Also no need to grind unlike marble flooring.

    • RE: All About Full-Time Maids

      Hi duriz

I also stopped work to be SAHM after several years in the corporate world. My DH always share his encounters from his work with me so that I do not feel so left out. In addition, I try to join him on his corporate functions and we also invited some close colleagues to our house for a meal… I am sure there are many things we can do to keep up with the society but we only have one chance to see our child grow up…I have seen some mummies who decided to retire early (after having a highly successful career )when their kids are in the teens and the child did not really view it positively…quite sad…

    • RE: All About Life Without Maids

      Hi duriz

Yes, its indeed a privilege to be with our children before they grow up. Several years ago, I stopped work for a year to stay home & looked after my eldest but went back to work for another 2 years before becoming a SAHM again till today. It had already been 5 years since then. I have 4 children with a maid to help me. Although my maid is good , I would still prefer to be without one if I can. When I had only my eldest, I had a part time helper who came in twice a week to help. I looked after my eldest plus cooking. Its very manageable & I prefer to instill in my child certain habbits eg: no unhealthy snacks, soft drinks, expose them to all types of fruits & vege, good eating habits i(ie eat at table) etc. Some of the maid horror stories here and in tamarind’s blog are really scary. Even with 4 kids & no ILs with us, I am contemplating if I can handle without a FT maid when she goes back. Can I check how much you pay for your PT helper to come in every day & how long does she stay each time?

      Thank you.

    • RE: Any Mommies in mid-late 30s or over 40 with small children ?

Hi I am a SAHM in my late 30s with 4 kids ranging from 8yrs old to 2 years old. When I was pregnant with no.4 two years ago, could feel that my body already "wear & tear". Walked very slowly during last trimester cos could feel baby pressing down. Also breasfed all four for at least a year. At the end of each day, I just can’t wait to sit down on the sofa & do nothing…

      Hi liuhao

May I know where we can get the hidden camera thing and is it clear enough to capture voices too? My trustworthy maid of 7 years also got these HP and boyfriend problems recently and I am thinking of using that to see what she is doing whenever I am out.

I suspect even if you specify no HP and off day right from beginning, they will somehow get hold of one or two phones and start using it without us knowing. I trusted my maid so much that I did not even know that she was using it so frequently when I am out until I have to secretly check her phone and was shocked to see calls/sms in/out morning, afternoon, nite until 12 midnite. Our house rule is that she can use HP at nite when all work done and kids settled but up to 11pm. The last time we confronted her, she demanded for every sunday off (currently 2 sundays off) if we keep her HP during day. Now she hides her pone and clear all the logs until I can’t check anything so I am thinking for the camera thing to see if she continues to use HP.

Actually, to chit chat for a while with friends is fine but the tendency is that they got overboard after a while esp if no one at home. And with young children at home, it is somewhat difficult to specify a time when she can "chit-chat" with her friend as children’s timing is unpredictable.

    • RE: Choosing and Evaluating Primary Schools

      Hi

I was also in your delimma two years ago, choosing betw a SAP sch and SJIJ. In the end, we choose SJIJ. My initial fear of my son developing a dislike for chinese was unfounded. Almost half of my son’s classmates are non-Chinese but taking Chinese, and that explains why the school’s chinese may not be that good compared to a SAP school. The Chinese teacher there had a hard time, I believe! My boy also find his chinese teacher very caring and encouraging. Anyway, the mixed group of boys provide him with great exposure. If you are looking for a school that "push" the kids, then I think SJIJ is not one of them , which may explain why their academic results are ok only. If your child is not catholic, he can opt for some other subject.

      Hope it helps…
