I feed my DD 1/2 tsp UMF10 twice weekly. I think UMF15 is a bit strong for kid. You can check with Hock Hua.

      wildcats:

      Hi

I just bought the UMF 15 from Hock Hua at $39 (for member only) at Marine Parade. New Store.

Also, is it ok to give it to 3 year old kid the UMF 15 manuka??

      Thanks

      from http://www.manukahoney.com/resources/umf.html

The UMF Ratings (measure of antibacterial strength):
      0-4: Not detectable
5-9: Maintenance levels only (a nice table honey but not recommended for special therapeutic use)
10-15: Useful levels endorsed by the Honey Research Unit at The University of Waikato
16 and over: Superior levels with very high activity.

I think 10 is too high antibacterial strength, is not good for 3yo child... It like eating medicine (antibaotic) everyday... I would like them to start on UMF 5 first to slowly build up their strength and maybe after 10yo then give them UMF 10 if the child is still prompt to sickness...

I am a FTWM and fetches my DS every evening after work & looks after him in the wkends. How do i toilet train him? Did tell my mum to help toilet train him but think she too busy... Anyone can advise?

It very difficult to toilet train my gal too when she stay with her grandparent who dont know how to toilet train her... T.T I look after her during weekends, She would refuse to remove her pull-ups and dont want to go toilet whenever I suggest her the idea... ( to reminder her go toilet, make it a habit for her ) But when at childcare, The teacher told us where other kids will go toilet themselve, she would ask teacher to bring her too.. ( really want to pull my hair out ) ... So now at 3+, I not sure why she scare to go toilet... coz she dont want to let go of pull-up and still do big business in it ( T.T||| )...

My DS is already 8 and he is having coughing with phlegm almost every night! He will start to have itchy eyes and nose too(sometimes even nose bleeding!). I have been giving him Zyrtec from pharmacy and it did sometimes stop all the symptoms. But I think keep giving him Zyrtec cannot solve the problem. We visited the Singapore Baby & Child in Glengeagle frequently when he was younger, but now I have gave up. The bills r too expensive and most importantly, it didn't cure him permanently. Can anyone help and advise on the treatment to the above mentioned. Thank you.

Oh no....yes me too i suffered this symptoms for 18 years !! before going to see a specialist in changi hospital (ear nose n throat) to remove my inflammed section of my nose due to the same symtoms your son is having. Most of the docs will just say flu, sinus etc... After prolonged running nose and block nose....i believe it will get inflamed...They insert a tube into my nose and somehow it can go any further...and once he remove it i started sneezing v badly....

As your Son if during the day he is only breathing on one side of the nose only if hes not on the medication?

Its probably due to sinus and than goodness u had zyrtec....i had nothing except for some expensive nasal sprays which imho was crap... u can also try clarinase....go malaysia pharmacy and get them

Sad to say its sinus we are allegic to dustmites big time....gd news after my operation.....sorta gone away...im 33 now and i do at times get the sneeze and just pop one tablet of clarinase.

Hi, I happen to see your comment and remember about this :

Now she taking chinese medi to č°ƒē† her immu system and getting better... Dont see her cough during night time when turn on air con... =P
Treatment:

To stop night time coughing in a child (or an adult, as! we found out personally), put Vicks Vapor Rub generously on the bottom of the feet at bedtime and then cover with socks.
I thought it worked for a while then find the results is not very consistent. Turns out that there is no such study done.
Foot Rub Cough Cure: Fact or Fiction?

June 7, 2007, Ottawa, ON – The National Research Council of Canada (NRC) recently learned of a circulating e-mail that claims NRC scientists have proven that Vicks VapoRubā„¢ can be applied to the feet to cure a persistent cough. We would like to take this opportunity to dispel this rumour.

The e-mail suggests that NRC conducted research comparing the effectiveness of prescription cough medicines in children to alternative therapies such as acupressure. However, our databases indicate that no such studies involving Vicks VapoRub have been done at NRC. It is rare for NRC to perform research on alternate applications of medications.
http://www.nrc-cnrc.gc.ca/newsroom/news/2007/cough07-ma_e.html

it's also not a good idea to apply vicks for kids younger than 2 yrs old as the vapour rup may cause increased mucus to airways that was inflamed and caused breathing difficulties
      http://www.reuters.com/article/domesticNews/idUSTRE50C14Z20090113
Vick do not work for my 3yo girl too.. I tried rub it on her feet to stop her night cough.. but no use.. she dislike it very much when I rub her chest... throughout the night twis and turn and cry in sleep... pain me to see her like this.. so I now wont rub any vick on her during night time...

When my son has fever, he can still be running around and playing. Same for flu. The doctor said the medicine wont cure him, it only 'cure the symptoms' so I try not to feed him medicine unless he looked listless.

      .
You can get the doctor to say that to my father and mother-in-laws.. It really a pain to explain to them that child get sick often when in preschool is a \"normal\" nowsaday... but my father-in law will say that the doctor is a cheap..the medi could not cure his granddaughter...he should not come out to be doctor.... oh my god!!!

But if for a young toddler to fall sick often, eat lots of food/fruits rich in vitamin c and anti-oxidants. Eg, spinach, grapes, ketchup, tomatoes, fresh fruit juices, etc...and lots of fish.

mine even flu vaccine pd also dun suggest cos my son have sensitive airway.. šŸ˜ž

Try to put him through some aerobic sports like swimming and jogging. They really help if you keep at it everyday. Help to build up resistance naturally.

swimming really gd har.. i also heard ppl saying.. since he born i haven start to bring him to swim cos scare he catch a cold.. jogging.. my boy only 20 mth leh.. haah
Swimming is generally good for kids, but if your child have weak airway as my girl, then have to reconsider....need to wait till her breathing system is better then can think to send her to learn swimming,... otherwise will get sick every week for months... >.<|||
