    • RE: All About Primary Schools' Balloting History

      Hi,

Balloting can be very stressful for some parents. Diff sch do thier balloting differently. Last yr, I went for my gal’s balloting at St Margt. All the appliciants’ name were written in a piece of paper, the school read out each and evevryone’s name and there were relflected on OHP. The names were then transferred into a transparent "fish tank". Principal will draw the 1st name, whoever gotten drawn had to go up stage to help to draw the next applicant.

If the lucky gal’s parent was not in the hall to view the balloting, that parent on stage has to continue to draw for another applicant. You can go only go down the stage till you draw 1 gal who parent was in the hall.

Haha…I was alone last yr and was so stress when you see all happy parents sitting beside you left n right, behind u, in front u all cheering for thier sucess i balloting. At last when they flashed my gal’s name(last 10 lucky gals) on OHP, I was stunned for awhile and couldn’t believe my eyes and ears.

Goodluck to all of them who are going for your balloting. Begin to think which sch to go should your child didn’t get into your dream school.Prepare for it and take it easy.

      Enjoy National day first!

      Hi Dearee,

I will prefer to send my son to ACPS if i am you.It is a excellent school with great history. It has affilated sec school that you do not need to worry should your son dun perform well in his studies. i know that some parents transferred their sons fr gd sch like Henry Park to ACSP in P3/P4 using their strong CCA like swimming or badminton. ACSP have many sch buses picking/sending boys fr diff estates. Even bk panjang , pasir ris or tampines.
My hubby is old boys fr ACSP and my son is in ACSP. Most of his old buddies’s fathers and even grand fathers were ex-ACSians.There are always so much memories to talk about whenever the old boys meet up.
ACSP has many CCAs and the boys really enjoyed them.
Of course , it also depends your logistic arrangement.
Last yr, I went balloting for my gal in St Margt in Phase 2C. If i register her to Kuo Chuan(within 1km ), she will be 100% in.However, I prefer single sex sch and most impt single session sch. Easy to send both kids to sch in morn and to any tuition in aftern.

No regret, my gal really enjoys in St Margt everyday.

At the end of the day, it really depend on which you prefer. Both sch are good sch.

      Goodluck.

      Hi guys,

There is a after school care in ACS(P), run by MCYC (I think the name is correct) Only for ACSP students. According to what i know, the number of students are pretty small.

As for chances to go ACSJ or ACSP, the former is better chance as it always has more vacancies in Phase 2C.If you are within 1km, chances that you will get in or at least has chance for balloting. ACSP has more old boys to register their sons in 2A1 & 2A2 so always left very few places. Don’t take your chance if you can apply for ACSJ. ACSJ is afflilated to our brother sec sch too.

Good luck to you all for your son’s registeration.

P/S. My son is in P4 at ACPS.

      Gingerbread man,

My gal is P1 this yr. She has been with Jiang since K1 and she learnt all her K2 hanyu pinyin from there last yr. Jiang is very old fashioned kind of school but teaching materials, worksheets are pretty good. Lower pri class is max abt 20 and weekend clases are very packed. Wed , thur & Fri classes are quite pretty small. My gal attends 3hrs class and she enjoys it alot. She speaks English since she is young and picks up Chinese from Jiang.Apparently, she absorbs their teaching very well. However, my P4 son found it very stressful to learn in Jiang cos’ thier homework is too difficult for him. He joined Jiang in mid P2 and just quit after May lessons ended. Personally, I find that not every child is suitable to study in Jiang.Based on my 2 kids’ experience, i think it is better to allow your kid to explore Chinese at early age(Since they are quite free & no stress in k1 & K2) .

      hi all,

Hehe…I am abit late to write abt my gal 's 1st day of sch in st Margt. she is in 1Grace. So far everything has been fine in sch and she said she enjoys her sch life. Regarding the RS bus services, I thot they are quite bad in services. They didn’t call us to confirm our bus service as they have promised during the orientation in Nov. My son’s sch bus called every Dec to confirm his bus no and driver(he is p4 now). I called on 2 Jan and they gave me the bus no & driver 's hp. Guess wat, they gave me the Morn driver’s hp and my gal is actually taking Single -trip in the aftrn.
On the 1st day, I waited at her student care ctr(which is 5 mins away fr St Margt) I didn’t see her after 20 mins.I called that driver’s hp and he claimed that she is not his list ! I called st Margt and Ms Maggie said no more girl in sch…my heart almost dropped! I wa so angry & told her to ask the bus operation mgr to call me. shortly, Franics called & said she was on the right bus but driver missed her drop-off pt & only can drop her after everyone has alighted.
By the time she arrived, it was 2.35pm! she was left alone with this "new stranger uncle". she cried and abit nervous abt the whole indicent. No appetite to eat dinner & slept at 7.30pm. I amde a complaint in sch next morn and luckily everything turned out smoothly on 2nd day onward.
What a bad experience on 1st day of sch?

      Hi all,

I have successful balloted for a place in St Margt too!

Firstly, I would like to thank chief and his team and all KSP daddies/mummies for your valuable informations regarding Pri 1 registeration 2010 and all sch balloting histories .I really learnt alot with the help from parents in KSP forum b4 I select my choice of sch for my DD. If it was not learning so much impt info from KSP, I wouldn’t think that I can secure a place in St Margt for my DD.THANKS AGAIN !!

I know of many of my fenz who didn’t do their 'homework" b4 they ’ cheong ’ for certain sch and now ended up to go Suppl phase c this friday. Some were really poor thing as there weren’t much choice of sch left around their plc.

The past 2 weeks, i can’t go to sleep without logging on KSP forum(abit addicted). The fun of connecting with so many KSP on the same boat making me feel so excited to log on everyday.Although, it was stressful to go balloting(at the end) but it will give me a ‘unforgettable memory’ for my DD’s P1 Registeration.

Hope to hear from everyone who have registered their gals in St Margt.

CHIEF, allow me to salute to you and your team once again! I really appreciated the fenzships here@KSP.

      Hi snowflake,

dun give up and go ahead for suppl C this fri 1st. look around your plc what will be the best choice of sch. i think distance will still be a very impt factor in suppl c. Few fenz went balloting this morn and some were lucky and some weren’t. my fenz’s sis-in-law was quite poor thing…didn’t make it for balloting in MGS(phase B) and today still got no luck for Nan hua.She felt very upset and she had gone thru’ the balloting twice and still no luck.
      All the best.

    • RE: 2009 P1 Registration Exercise for 2010 In-Take

      Hi ,

My gal got into st Margt too! It was a stressful moment for many of us. My gals’ name was the last ten to call out. Phew…finally saw her name flashed on the screen…and i was speechless but i knew i was very happy at that moment.
Surely, there were 5 disappointed applicants didn’t make it for this balloting and I hope they won’t give up hope and quickly look for alternative school for their gals. Try to put on waiting lists in some sch as I heard my fenz who was a PSG in one top sch mentioned that every yr b4 sch re-open, there were always some parents pull out from their sch for various resaons.
Good luck for all parents who didn’t make it for their balloting today. Don’t give up hope!

    • RE: 2009 P1 Registration Exercise for 2010 In-Take

      hi Little princess,

I was there at 9.10am and when i left st Margt the vancacies were left about 21.Based on last 2 days figures, we actually can guaged that St Margt might have to ballot for >2km should more parents come in in the afternoon.
I called at 12noon and the clerk actually told me very nicely that there they left abt 11 seats. I estimated that the balance 11 seats will be taken up soon when the rest come in after 2.30pm but it should not exceed by too much as the staff told me that all PC will be shut down by 4.30pm.
I called again at 5.10pm and was told that there were 5 exceeded the quota.

Frankly, I think most of us stand quite a good chance compared to many many popular schools that exceed few times of their quota.

I guess when the time some of you went there was already quite late and all the staffs were already very tired to answer all questions. Many parents probably pressurised the staffs for info and everyone was very stressful at that time. Perhaps you can still put your gal’s name on waiting lists.I heard from my fenz from another school that there will be ppl withdraw last minute b4 sch open for watever reason.

      Good luck.
