Anyone knows if RGPS's PV is open for application?

U may go to their website and check 😄

Thanks, I do check regularly but so far there's nothing announced. I'm afraid they are not announcing it on their website.....
Furthermore this year's announcement is so so late compared to last year....
Hi zoolet and C3P0,

Thanks for the information provided. 😄

Does this means that our child who is born in the year 2006, need only 1 dose of MMR, then can already registrate for P1 in coming July?

TIA

Hi kola, it seems like 2 doses are needed since your child is > 12 months old as at 1/12/2011. But you may want to call your doctor to double check, or maybe others here can help to clarify.
I think many parents are not aware of this, so maybe MOE will not refuse a P1 registration merely because of this missing 2nd jab....MOE should give some allowance I think....but I'm not totally sure 🙂

i think 2006 kid turn 12 months 'before' 1/12/2011, hence no need MMR D2. 😓
Oh you are right, thanks for correcting me. I've deleted my original comments:)

Dear Parents who r registering this year,

Parents, please remember to download the immunisation certificate. Just go to MOE website under p1 registration. There is a link that bring to to the site for downloading of the immunisation certification.
😓 3 more months to go....

hi zoolet,

is it necessary for this immunisation certificate? isn't the health booklet sufficient? anyway, i have download the certificate and there's a missing MMR D2. i remember there's just 1 jab of MMR to be taken at 18 mths... how come there's another jab of MMR D2?

I found this:http://www.hpb.gov.sg/studenthealth/article.aspx?id=630
It says:
Babies who turn 12 months of age on or after 1st December 2011 should receive 2 doses of MMR vaccine as per above schedule.

from 2010 and 2011's 2B and 2C statistics, seems like no point doing PV as the chances to get in is almost the same. In fact for 2011, the chances to get in at 2C us higher, ha ha.

your eyes are sharp.
2011 - the chance to enter at 2C was indeed higher than 2B.

phase 2B: 8 kids balloted out, all > 2km.

phase 2C: only 3 kids balloted out, < 1km.

need to collect more statistics over next few years, confirm if this trend is true.

Oh, thanks for your numbers. I didn't know that under 2B, those that ballot out are > 2km.....that means if one stays within 1km and does PV and kid is SC, chances are very high to get in....assuming other factors remain the same....

phtthp:
with new policy kicked in, PR queue behind until the very last SC child staying > 2km has entered RGPS successfully, for phase 2B, 2C.

for 2B Parent Volunteers this year (2006 doggie), if daughter is a Singapore citizen, chance looks higher with PR \"out of the picture\" - compared to past years where SC and PR compete & fought head on, based on luck thown into common balloting box.
Not sure what's the PR/SC ratio in RGPS....

Another matter: from 2010 and 2011's 2B and 2C statistics, seems like no point doing PV as the chances to get in is almost the same. In fact for 2011, the chances to get in at 2C us higher, ha ha.

Dear parents,

RGPS has it's vacancies reduced over the years (270 is latest number).
I've called the school to enquire about future vacancy but they say it's only available before the balloting exercise.

May I know if there's any news or indication that the vacancy will be further reduce within the next 2 years?

I stay within 1km of RGPS but saw from the statistics that in past 2 years, it's getting competitive due mainly to reduction in vacancies available.

Thanks in advance to any kind soul who can help me....

currently rgps running double session.

heard news this year won't cut, intake remain as 9 classes (270).

But next year slash to 8 classes.
after that, stabiize at 8 classes (240), classes 1A to 1H.
won't cut below 8.

Thanks phtthp! Saw ur reply earlier but only manage to log in today 🙂
The new MOE policy cant help if the root of the problem is the sharp decrease in vacancy over the past few years, from 360 to 300 to 270, and then 240 in 2013. Sigh....

Hi phtthp,

Many thanks for your very informative post once again, I'm sure it benefits many others too.
So the RGPS lady I spoke to did tell the truth, that vacancy is decided by MOE 🙂
I will heed ur advice and see the vacancy for this year. If it reduces either this or next year, then.....hopefully MOE comes up with some changes that's beneficial to me, ha. Otherwise, fly kite liao.
I'm 1-2km of SCGS (thanks for the map tool and ballot result links too). So chance is smaller. Same goes for MGS as we are neither alumini nor affiliated with the church.
Nevermind, just try my best ya.
Thanks once again and have a good weekend ahead!

phtthp:
hi C3P0,

nobody can predict ahead what is the intake for 2015.
RGPS Principal is tight lipped because the one that decide student enrollment intake is MOE, not her.
We can only observe from the pattern trend, signal sent out for 2006 batch.

By mid May, MOE will announce intake for 2006 kids, for next year 2013 P1 intake.
Perhaps wait a little while more ... akan datang, since now already March.

i) if 2006 batch reduce to 8 classes (ie. 240 pupils), it is possible that 2007 batch may further cut to 7 classes (210 pupils).

ii) however if 2006 batch still can remain at 9 clases (ie. 270 pupils), likely that 2007 batch also remain at 9, or 8 classes.

whether (i) or (ii) happen, comes 2008 your batch for 2015 P1:-
your intake either stabilize at the last intake of 2007 batch, or further cut by another class.

this is because 2016 going single session, operate within extremely tight limited resources. Even temporary holding at Mount Sinai don't have so many classroom to accomodate so many classes from P1 to P6.

if the worst case scenario takes place - have backup plan.
as u stay < 1km from rgps, the next nearest all girls school is SCGS, or MGS.

are you also < 1km from SCGS, MGS ?
you can type in your postal code address, check:-
http://www.elite.com.sg/

schools appearing within BLUE zone Circle: < 1 km

schools appearing within RED zone Circle: 1 to 2 km

2011 phase 2C balloting results, SCGS:-

for those who fail to ballot in, SCGS conducts entrance proficiency Admission tests, in P1 Term 1, beginning first few weeks :-
http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=4462&start=330

thus if your backup plan is SCGS, you may want to prepare your daughter mentally to sit for the tests in P1 Term 1 beginning first few weeks, when she reach K2.

SCGS going to accept the pioneering first batch of Secondary 1 \"Integrated Programme\" students straight all the way up to A level, wef next year, January 2013. The new Junior college built will be ready by 2017, to receive the pioneering first batch of A level students from (SCGS, CHIJ St Nicholas, Catholic High). SCGS going to be very hot! Within these few years, expect hot demand at P1 registration.

if you or your spouse (either parent) a Methodist church member, your backup school can be MGS, at phase 2B:-
