Personally finds that it’s positive teachers, supportive friends and the right ambience that makes up a good school.

RE: Where to find Bakeware/Baking Ingredients?
TheAnswer:
 but do let us know how did your baking turn out.jtoh:
You're welcome, TheAnswer. Phoon Huat's merchandise are reasonably priced and you can finding baking ingredients there as well. Another place to consider is Sun Lik. But they have just the one shop so not as convenient as Phoon Huat. There's of course Totts but prices there are high.
I used to bake at my mum's place but now I wanna bake at home so I need to buy my own 'equipment'
I noted all your recommendations.. Can pop by when I have my me time.. Cannot bring my hubby along.. I can't bear to hear him complaining about how long I take to shop :scared: and better not let him know how much they cost :imanangel: -
RE: GEP 2013 - Screening & Selection
porcupine12trade:
Wow u ladies are born with intelligent kids! Congrats. I signed up my for a GEP preparation class. My gal came back and said the test was manageable. She thought it would be tough. Quite a few Q was what she learned. Hope she gets in.firefly38:
DS1 had no tuition, no MO training, no GEP Prep course, and got selected to join GEP.. Round-1 is based on English & Math school syllabus, hence its difficulty level is manageable..
However, I recall DS had to go back to school on a Saturday morning to sit for the Round-1 Screening Test. There was a short break between the Eng & Math papers, and DS brought along a snack to eat during the break.. The test was not conducted during school hours then. That was in 2008..
Same for my dd, no tuition, no MO training, no GEP Prep course, not exposed to > P3 syllabus and previous school set relatively easy tests/exams but got selected to join GEP. Based on the above, we did not expect her to be selected. I was worried she was a bother line case, now in gep, handles work well and enjoying. So I believe kids who get selected without prep will enjoy it and probably don't feel very stress, not having to play catch up. -
RE: Opinions on Gifted Education Programme (GEP)
I think it is hard not to send your kids for tuition, especially it’s so competitive nowadays.
I always believe a good teacher would help to bring out the best in a child.
If you are lucky, you can get a good teacher in school else, as parents we would have to outsource to find someone whom we think can help to fill in the gap. -
RE: GEP 2013 - Screening & Selection
Dear Parents…
Anyone of your kids going for the GEP screening test tomorrow?
Heard that it’s really tough to go through the first round. My girl is going for the test tomorrow. I had signed her up for GEP preparation before that.
Hopefully she can get through the test. -
RE: How does your child's school teacher handle unfocused child?
KimMills:
I also feel that not all children can excel in academics. So, we as parents or teachers must understand the child's inclination and make them achieve something in that field apart from studying the courses that are in the academics. Like some may be very good in football, some in cricket, some in music, dance, etc.
i agreed..but then it's so competitive. I dont think we have much choice not to focus on their studies.
I dont want my kids to grow up to be stigma as someone stupid. Have to push them. -
