      MMM:
She just came back and told me that she scored 84 for her SA1. She said that alot of people just passed the passed the paper (getting 50+) and some of her friends who used to top the class in P2 were getting 70+ only and did badly for section C (problem sums). So yes, I am really glad to see her confidence level. Her enopi teacher was telling her that she can easily score 95 marks if she is careful. This I agree.

Wow...that's even fabulous to know. I've heard alot that from P3 onwards, the math problems can be really tough, and as I used to have phobia about math and foresee problems with teaching my DS, I am hence embarking him on the necessary fundamental training. Once the fundamentals are firm, the confidence level will be propped up and barring unnecessary carelessness, I think the child should be able to cope with the challenges. Do share more along the way...love to learn more.

      With thanks

      Hi Monster Mummy!

Thanks for sharing. You mentioned the different levels…I’ve heard there are 20 for the foundation or fundamentals stage, is that true? Does that mean after the diagnostic test, say my DS is level 2…so he start off with level 2 worksheets? My DS is still using his fingers to count, I heard that this will be eventually wean off with training. How about multiplication tables, how is the child being taught to memorise that? Any special skill apart from memorising?

      June:
cbreeze: Don't think the kids will feel intimidating with numbers, as at that age I think some schools even gave the exposure at age 5. And moreover with enopi colour worksheets some kids love it. ....................................................................................................

fundamentals are strong and this gave him more freeway to tackle the tougher question eg: the challenging questions (aka heuristic).
      Hi June!
Great to know that the coloured worksheets do help to motivate the children. My DS is now in K2 and can be apprehensive in new settings (classrooms etc.), so that is why I raised questions about being 'intimidated' with the new worksheets & homework etc. especially since it's not a typical tuition centre. (more like Kumon style that is..)Guess it's not that big an issue after hearing all your sharing.

      Tks.

      Hi,

With SA just over, I thought I like to share how my P3 benefitted from Enopi.......................................................................................

My K1 is currently doing Enopi and doing simple addition now. With her early start, I hope she will be able to achieve alot more than her siblings.
      Hello MMM!
Thanks for sharing on your experience. I liked the fact that your P3 child has acquired the confidence in tackling the tough SA papers.

      Monster Mummy:
      Hi Constance,

My kid also enrol in numberlinks, i find it quite okay. Basically, i believed that their enopi maths is about the same as other programme. Just that they are also emphasis in the area of analysis maths once they reach P1 or P2 depends on their capability.

I am not quite sure the other outlet offer anything outside of Enopi. Initially, I was also enquiry programme from other outlet, but i come upon their website. I just go ahead and have no regret because i felt that children must really enjoy their math and build up their basic foundation else the higher level they go, they might dislike math more if they cannot perform.

This is only my thinking at my end.
      Hello!

Does your Dd find it intimidating for her since she's only 5yrs old when she started enopi maths (@ numberlinks i.e.)?
Do you get to speak with the teacher on her progress after each lesson?
Does it mean the child is given explanation on some concepts on how to complete the worksheet...than proceed to complete it within the stipulated time ?
Any worksheets to bring back? Do you see any significant changes in your child..like being more motivated etc?

      Hi, all

Anyone kid is in Primary 1F class this year ? Any feedback about the form teacher - Ms Lee

      😄
No one has responded so far.....would you care to share your concerns here? Or maybe you can speak to the VP or relevant officer in the school to address your concerns & seek some answers?

Thanks for the info. Doing my homework now. My boy will only enrol in 2012. BTW, being old girl . does it mean we are of higher band, and do not need to do PV ? I am very blur and confused. :?

      Hello ixora & strawberries!

      Welcome to the site.

Being an ex-student, yes you can register under phase 2A (2) without doing PV. As jce advised, the official website of PCPS has all the info and even the links to MOE on the criteria, the relevant documents to produce for P1 registration. You should find the website rich with info and photos +++ too.

      Yong HL:

Enrichment centres do help me to teach her new concepts/things. I must admit that i am pretty impatient and quick tempered. Engaging the help of enrichment centres help me to scream less, my daughter fear me less, and bond more. And of coz, i revise her school and enrichment class homeworks. Revision is so much peaceful than to teach new concepts myself 🙂

Exactly the same case as me. I used to try teach maths to my son. Simple addition and subtraction leads me to screaming at him and tearing my hair out. I have since left it to the schools and whatever outside help I can get. I don't want my son to be cringing at the sight of me, or at the books.

Phew.........that's what happened to me recently and it sets me seriously thinking of sending my DS to an enrichment centre too. Maybe we do not have the right skills to impart the knowledge?

      Hi, cbreeze

The respective coaches will do the selection of P2 students during two of their PE period once a week. At the end of their P2, the selected P2 students are invited to join the Sport Class .
OIC...that's how it works here...tks..I got it!

      Hi, Curious mon

As long as your child got talents on Table Tennis, Basketball or Volleyball,
he is able to join the Sport Class.

My son is in P3 Sport Class and his studies is only average....
      😄
      Hi Rosmary!

So is that to say that your son joined the mentioned sports group in P2 and got spotted for his talent ? Or care to clarify how does the selection takes place, since P1 & P2 are in PM session and presumably no CCA...how does the selection work? Tks for explaining.. I'm clueless
