Hi Insider, yes with my nick, it does look like your topic is talking back to you.
I've been reading all the pages on the sidelines and I want to thank you for your generousity in sharing your knowledge and I have benefitted it greatly.
I'm usually quick tempered especially when it comes to my children and husband. I catch myself and try to take a step back, sometimes successful, sometimes not. But that is already some battles avoided. So thank you once again, and I hope to become a better person in life. :thankyou:

RE: St Joseph's Institution Junior
Hi Muffin, the boys will need the electronic dictionary when they start writing compositions. There are a few approved models that are allowed in exam halls. You can either purchase it from the school bookshop/ bookshops like popular or wait for bookfairs held in schools where there will usually be a discount. Boys will bring home leaflets before a book fair.

MadScientist:
Hi Madscientist,Any parents here alumni of SJIJ (SMS)?
How does the P1 registration process goes, and is there an official alumni or SJIOBA?
Appreciate advice.
Cheers!
If i'm not wrong there's no official alumni for SJIJ/SMS. Being in SJIOBA does not give you any priority in P1 registration. If you are an old boy of SMS, simply bring your old report book as proof during registration. -
RE: Entropion Surgery
Hi Rain29,
I had chanced upon a blogger's entry on her son's diagnosis while I was searching for a good eye doc. Managed to dig up the link, http://angeliatay.livejournal.com/351091.html
Hope this helps -
RE: Lasik
The bandage lens was on for about a week. The pain was bad for the first 3 days.
I have perfect vision now and no problems driving at night.
I did my epi lasik at the national eye centre. -
RE: Lasik
I had epi lasik done 2-3 years back. Was wearing contact lens for 10 years and realized that my eyes had become more and more dry. I couldn’t bear having the lens in my eyes for more than a couple of hours each time, and this was with daily lenses.
Took the leap and went to the National Eye Centre. My corneas after being exposed to long hours of contact lens had become too thin for conventional lasik but thankfully I still could do Epi-lasik. I read up on the internet, and other forums but not many people in Singapore opt for epi lasik. In comparison, it is the preferred choice (or I was under the impression from reading) in the States, especially for athletes and army personnel. The reason being, it reduces the trauma when you are injured.
I had to have my operation on 2 different days, an eye each time. The surgery was okay. Not too scary. The surgeon will insert a bandage lens which will be kept in the eye for about a week till the eye heals. The recovery is a whole different story. I couldn’t stand the pain, and light. And for a mother who didn’t need painkillers after delivery, you can say it was more painful than having a baby!!
I was very afraid and it didn’t help that the bandage lens were annoying me. It felt gritty and I couldn’t see very clearly. I thought I was going blind. My sister who did lasik before me, didn’t had to go through this.
Thankfully, when the lenses came off, everything was okay. I don’t suffer from headaches or poor night vision. Given a choice, I will still do it again! Don’t have to put up with glasses/contact lens. -

Herbie:
Talked to the MP before. Nothing has been done. Surprisingly, the NP turned a deaf ear. We have suggested to the Principal to situate the warden further down the road, and was turned down as well. I guess it's a case of out of sight out of mind. My friend made a mistake and got caught in the traffic once and was rushing off to pick up her daughter from another school. She simply parked her big SUV in the middle of the road and refused to move when the warden was just simply waving traffic on.Hi cherryblossoms, talk to you NC and let yr NC bring this matter to TP..
I agree with you that the traffic around Watten area is quite bizarre around 1pm. As pple use Watten Rise and Watten area like a place for them to U-turn into Dunearn Road..
Actually the traffic warden from RGPS shld not be standing there to direct the traffic cos it will be seen as the only way to get out of the place is via that watten road..
