Congrats too all who got in! Unfortunately my DS was unsuccessful in his DSA.

For all those who are in the same boat, don't lose faith. DSA is not the only ticket to your child's success in life.
If your DS is keen on getting into ACSI, I'm sure he will work hard for PSLE and get in with his high score. All the best to your DS !!! JIA YOU!!! :rahrah:

      Paddy Field:

They only said as n when there is vacancy, they will call, SMS or email to inform you. I overheard that an Indian boy had CO from RI as well. The P n VP also know that many have received multiple offers, so they appealing to parents to let them know early so those on WL can be informed early as well. No specific dates given but by 2 Sep is what they appeal the parents to get back. So there n about ...should know before psle I guess
Overall, it was a very chop-chop briefing. It was over in less than 30 mins. I actually expected a Q and A session, but they probably decided against it as it would have dragged the briefing beyond 6.00pm

Mr Hodge has only been in his capacity for 9 weeks. He would have the opportunity to see the new Yr 1 boys grow as they progress and the boys to really know him and look to him for guidance.

As for the WL, quite a number of the ACSP GEP boys only got WL. Not sure about the exact number but it would seem that HAST really played a part in the selection. So school affiliation don't count, strictly on merit. It is all the more important as there were no interviews at all. And also not forgetting the personal statement. Saw quite a number of students from the non-feeder schools too. It seems they gave out all 90 of the DSA places for the IP and 58 for the Express track who DSAed in through Sports and other Talents.

      wear school uniform?
I think it would be up to you. The lady that called did not mention that your DS must be in school uniform but that DS should attend with his parents.

      Hi Clayman,

for the WL to qualify for the place in ACSI (assuming it becomes CO at a later stage) what is the Tscore needed for this to go through?

      Thanks in advance
      Hi fruiteller,

I would think that the T-score would only be applicable for S-1 posting after PSLE results. Should your WL be converted to a CO it would not matte as long as you qualify for the express stream.

what are chances for WL at acsi

Maybe clayman can enlighten but my guess is chances are high ? Simply because a fair number of ACS P/J boys might take up RI offers ?

Should be quite high. But we will have a clearer picture tomorrow after the Principal's briefing.

last yr, they informed us to collect the letter. When asked if that means a CO, they told us to collect and find out.

On that day, a Sat, wife went and noticed others (also ACS GEP) leaving with black face....coz kenna WL!!
This time the lady who call will inform you that your son has been successful and that the Principal would like to meet the students and parents. Waitlist applicants are also told of the outcome. They are also invited to attend the meeting on Friday.

      yukilei:

Gleemom, thks for the info. Have been hearing a lot of ACSI about being \"rich man\" son sch. Finally hearing sthg fm someone from the sch. This really put me at ease. Personally, I prefer ACSI than NUSH. Was thinking mayb ask my DS to try ACSI DSA next year. However, almost none of his classmate is interested in ACSI. All going crazy with NUSH. Furthermore, DS doesn't like CCA, esp uniform groups... So, not sure whether he'll put it as one of his choice. Of course, have to depend on his grade too. Will definitely bring him to ACSI open house.
Btw, since you say IB prog is purely on merit, does it mean it'll not give priority to ACSP? Which means everyone has equal chance???
      Hi yukilei,

Let me wade in on this. I'm an ex-ACS boy myself, and way back in 70's when ACSI was still ACS Secondary at Barker Road as one entity, my classmates came from a variety of background. I had classmates whose parents were teachers, taxi-drivers, normal working folk. Maybe half of them were above the average middle-income class. But still, everyone was equal when it came to interacting and socialising. Our teachers back then, treated everyone as equals. It was only when one of our current aspiring Presidential Election candidate espoused some nonsense at our Founder's Day about ACSians as being snobs that this myth took hold. Believe me, a lot of ex-ACS boys of my time still hold it against him for that comment.

So in a nutshell, I would strongly encourage you to try for ACSI for your DS when his time comes next year. I believe their DSA process give equal chances to everyone. The only reason it seems that there are more ACSP and ACSJ boys in their IP programme is because there is a higher percentage of these boys from the feeder schools applying. The IB programme is not well-known in this part of the world but ACSI is one of the top IB centres in the world administering this programme.

Also with a new Principal at the helm, it will be exciting times ahead as he charts new directions for the school. Will let you know my impressions, after this Friday's parents meeting with him. For me, my son's DSA journey is drawing to a close. Now...on to PSLE!!

ACSI have started calling successful applicants!!

How do you know? Did you get a call already? What did they say? Will it be followed up by email or mail?
You are making me nervous now... :nailbite:

      Hi tisha,

Yes I received a call from them. As far as I know, only successful applicants get a call. Those who are rejected will receive a letter end of the month. As for WL, I'm not too sure as I have not come across anyone I know with a WL yet.
