lee_yl:Just curious, should one of your in-laws pass on, would you still maintain such an arrangement, that is, stay near one another or invite the remaining in-law to move in with you? If the latter, you might want to consider getting a HDB with an additional room to spare for your next purchase.
Cannot too big...in case my parents also want to move in..just kidding. My in-law value their privacy so don’t think they want to stay with us. Walking distance arrangement is fine. My fil is in poor health and my hubby just brought him to see the family doctor this morning. It’s good that we stay close but not too close.I will be buying resale so, no waiting period.Cloud Cloud:
Cloud , how long to is the wait to able buy a HDB after disposal of condo ?
The new HDB layout is efficient , I like ! But only in my dream; fair deal
Yes, I also think the new hdb layout is efficient.
I find the yard for laundry very important. I used to dry my laundry at my condo balcony. So unsightly! Balcony also gets dirtied easily.

New flats may be smaller but I personally feel that the layout is preferred. I like the yard which is a separate area from the kitchen. I also feel it’s neater this way.new flats now are SMALL. it's either OLD but BIG flats or NEW but SMALL ones.
went to check out the estate and saw one being renovated. it's on a high floor. the kitchen is open concept and i was like :yikes: so small? 112 sqm but useable space is 110 sqm. so i really have to go easy on furniture. -

I just shifted into my rented hdb flat which is very spacious. Don’t think I want to squeeze in my small 2 bedder condo. Maybe rent it out. No pressure on rental for mortgage payment as fully paid. Also cannot stay in my own hdb as it is too far from dd school.Cloud Cloud:
My condo will top by end 2018. I intend to sell but ssd only end around Sep 2019. Should I rent out in the meantime? Pay the 4 percent ssd if the buyer can match my asking? Leave vacant until Sep 2019? Any views?
Unless you are desperate, may as well stay in it and wait. -
RE: Rental questions
starlight1968sg:
If hdb fully paid, just keep for rental...now hdb price also low.MrsKS
Am in a similar situation
Buyers may hv difficulties in getting a loan for old flats
I don’t know when to sell my hdb -

Wonder now is the tenants market? Condo is saturated and they can choose and price is lower too. A friend just rented an unit which is a one room brand new condo for 1.9K. I think she can bargain even lower

Your friend smart. Better than leaving it vacant. -
