In primary, my dd had tuition for all subjects, attended piano and ballet lessons. She sleeps by 10 pm and still has time for tv. Now in secondary, she only has tuition for one subject but is still coping well. She still sleeps by 10 pm. I think for parents who have to work, no harm to supplement with tuition on weekends. With proper planning, the child should still have time to R&R.

For parents without the time and knowledge to teach, tuition helps.

Ya... I tell hubby to forget about early retirement...
Retirement age is 67yo now? I don't think many can retire at 55. And with life expectancy at 84yo and healthy life expectancy at 72yo, that's a long time - enough to have a 2nd career. Speaking as someone who's nearly 55 - that's too young to stop working!MyPillow:
yes ,for cpf life choose to start fr 65 -70
So must have money fr the day u retired ( lets say 55) to 65yo
Need to have 10yrs of money !
Actually i thought it is v crucial to have money during 55 to 65 ( v fragile stage, most people view this stage as too early to bid good bye) -

My sis bought an annuity plan which start payout at age 55 for 10 years. She would like to retire by then.
Ask for allowance from hub and dd lah! :imanangel:starlight1968sg:
I think most would have no issue with $$ during 55-65 as they are likely continue working
I would like to retire or semi retire at age 55. So I wish CPF Life payout can start at age 55. -

Not necessary; just more years on your own before the payout starts
Aldo means we need to work longer...Cloud Cloud:
Push back payout age?
It means instead of start collecting the monthly payout at age 65 say, one can start collecting at age 68 or 70 to enjoy a highe ant of payout
I would want to collect payout asap though
After retirement and before cpf payout, need other sources of income. Rental, children allowance contribution, dividends, annuity payout.... -

Give longer life expectancy, the 65 payout age may be pushed back. Annuity plan does not have this uncertainty.
$7K is the max that can be used for tax relief.MyPillow:
The qn is park how much n when to start , u bear to put cash of $100K to $250K inside now .
So he intends to top up my CPF with $7K per year for the next 15 years. That's $105K. Before he retires, he will transfer another $100K from his CPF OA to my CPF. Plus whatever little I already have in my CPF, I will have a total of $250K, which will be enough under ERS to pay me $2K/mth to makan from age 65 till I pass on. -
RE: Retirement Insurance
I have met the cpf min sum and fully paid off 2 properties. These are for my retirement needs. I will finance my children tertiary education if it’s a local Uni but not overseas. So long they are staying with me, I will expect an allowance. Reasonable right?

We try to have one vege, pork or chicken with tofu or mushroom. Seafood is not for every meal. Less than $10 for 4 pax.MrsKiasu:
Home cooked food may not be cheaper but we get to eat more (ingredients), fresher, cleaner, healthier.
if we cook at home, we will be buying better quality stuff like cooking oil. eating out we can't choose what ingredients and quality used even for restaurants.
