Anyone got notification from NYGH for e-interview on DSA Innovation?

My girl had submitted her portfolio. No update since then. Not sure if Nanyang has sent out email to shorlisted applicants.

Finally NYGH sent out interview notice for innovation domain.

but back to e2k, i think those who are exposed to it, should just go ahead to include. My child's sch n many other schs don't offer e2k so won't even have such opportunities. something is better than nothing.. unless u have much more impt things to write to impress.

Yes, rank them in accordance with importance/ achievement. In the past where each school has their own DSA application form(s), one top IP school wanted a student's awards (not more than 5) attained in the DSA Domain ranked with the top award listed as number 1.

Those awards from P3 (or earlier) are probably too dated to include. In the past, some top IP schools only wanted the past 2 years records. For this year, since many P6 competitions are cancelled, I think P4 achievements should be included unless you have already filled up all the 10 entries.

All the best to your DS/ DD!

I find it a bit more challenging if we apply to two different domains. The list might look something like this..
1. Domain 1, #1 rank achievement
2. Domain 1, #2 rank achievement
3. Domain 1, #3 rank achievement
4. Domain 1, #4 rank achievement
5. Domain 1, #5 rank achievement
6. Domain 1, #6 rank achievement (and maybe relevant and rank bottom of Domain 2)
7. Domain 2, #1 rank achievement
8. Domain 2, #2 rank achievement
9. Domain 2, #3 rank achievement
10. Domain 2, #4 rank achievement

Based on the list above, wonder if the selector of Domain 2 is experience enough to know that he/she need to take a serious look from item 7 onwards...just don't give up at item #6 but to finish the list before chucking the application aside...

Any suggestion for the listing strategy?

Yes, it is the field whereby, u can enter text freely.

First, \"sell\" your son's strength(s).
At this point in time during online application (submission), only mention strength(s).

But during actual online interview, interviewers may ask u for weakness.
This part on weakness, be tactful (diplomatic) how yr son say or present across, to the interviewers. Not sure if RI will pose this interview question, but another IP school did, last year.

Second, briefly summarize (condense) the gist (key points) of your son's PS.

During interview, towards the end,
they asked, \"Do you have any question, for us\" ? This one, can get your child to prepare in advance
Thanks phtthp for the tips.

...anyway, to my horror, the found out that the form only allows 50/300 CHARACTERS for the award/description respectively, as oppose to 50/300 WORDS. Unless we write in abbreviation... IMO, IDTWCWM <-- that's abbreviation for \"In my opinion, I don't think we can write much...\"

How do you attach a personal statement to the application?

Last year 2019 DSA exercise,

during submission into online DSA portal, there wasn't any online button for u to click, attach a document eg. attach Personal statement.

However, you are provided a few rows to key in, enter comments, as to why are u applying to these 2 or 3 DSA schools, on the online portal itself. Over here, can briefly summarise the key, main salient points of your Personal statement, type into the comments (rows provided)

Above is one way.

Another way is,
when your son have been short-listed for an RI virtual interview, you can

email the RI interview co-ordinator, send them your son's Personal Statement (PS), and then follow up with
a personal telephone call, get to speak to this co-ordinator, politely request if possible to help forward your son's PS, to the rest of DSA interviewers as well.

Thanks phtthp for the detailed options.

Understood option #2.

For option #1, I quickly clicked through the online form, there is no special fields to enter comments why we are applying to these DSA schools... unless you are referring to the 300 words description for each of the award/activity..?
These are some tips to follow when writing your personal statement

Research: The first thing you should do when seeking to understand how to write a DSA personal statement, is to make sure that you fully understand the history of the school you intend to be admitted to. The history helps you to understand what exactly the school’s panel looks for when they are reading through the statement submissions.

Be short: One other thing that you may want to keep in mind when writing your statements is that these statements are your only one chance to convince the panel that they should accept your application and you should do so by making sure that your statement is not too long.

Avoid repetition: You may want to note that you will be required to avoid the mentioning of things that the committee already knows. This gives you more space to write more valuable words. Such words and phrases that you should avoid include the mentioning of who you are the panel certainly knows who you are. Don’t copy your resume, create a unique story.

Stand out: Another thing you should keep in mind when writing your statements is that these statements are usually the only way of making the difference. One way you can do this is by making sure that you try and find out a reason why you have always wanted to join that school and you should avoid giving the common reasons like because your school is the best.

Explain: You can mention the reasons why you have always wanted to join that school and you could also try and explain how you have managed to be able to reach this stage of sending a personal statement. For you to understand the DSA personal statement process, you will need to even try and say some unique problems that you went through before finally being able to get a chance to even write a statement.
Hi Cool nurse,
How do you attach a personal statement to the application?
Hi concerned_father! You are not able to attach the documents in the portal
Can I then say that the personal statement is not relevant at the standard submission stage (because there is no way of attaching the document. Someone say be creative.. but isn't it odd to direct the readers in the award description to a youtube clip of a child reading out the personal statement..not relevant to the particular award).
However, if student is shortlisted for the next stage, then only submit upon request (..and only certain schools require that eg. from RI /NJC as mentioned in phankao's post).
Is my understanding correct?
