    • RE: DSA 2020 - NUSH

Would like to find out about the requirement for DSA (MEP) to RGS and MGS - Does anyone know of any successful example in this DSA route? What are the key achievements of these students (eg. winning national competition etc.)?

Does anyone know how many places are available for DSA via MEP to RGS?

Unfortunately, that’s not how DSA works. It could be 10, 5 or none.
All shortlisted candidates are sorted and ranked according to the school’s priority and suitability. If the MEP candidates are very ‘tekong’, they will get in. However, if the selectors think the sailors or mathematicians are ranked higher, maybe there aren’t any places left for MEP.

I would imagine they need a certain number of student (say 20 students) to start an MEP class? If they only choose 5 people via DSA, how are they going to make up the number? Unless the MEP students also come from those regular pool who enter via the PSLE result?

How difficult is it to DSA to RGS via tennis? How many students will the school select via the tennis route? What is the selection criteria? Is the standard very high (eg. must win tournaments etc.)?

    • RE: All About ABRSM Grades & Support

      Hi,

Can anyone recommend any materials for the abrsm grade 5 theory preparation? I would like to use the material for self study. My background: adult who do not have any music background. I have bought grade 1 and grade 2 theory books by Lina Ng. So far, I don’t have any problem understanding them. How far are materials in those books differ from the actual theory exam.?(meaning if I finished the Lina Ng’s grade 1 book, I’ll have enough body of knowledge to tackle abrsm grade 1 exam?). What is the best way to fill up the knowledge gap between Lina Ng’s grade 2 book and the requirements from abrsm grade 5 theory).
      Thanks.

The grade 2 piano Scales, Arpeggios & Broken Chords are set at the speed of 66 for crotchet. Is that not too slow? During normal practice, it is advisable to go beyond that speed? Any recommended daily duration for practicing the Scales, Arpeggios & Broken Chords?

    • RE: CHIJ Family of Schools

      Hi,

Is there any opportunities to further my child’s piano interest at CHIJ Kellock (such as opportunities to perform at school and public functions)? I checked the school website related to performing arts - the String Ensemble is pretty active. I don’t see any Piano Ensemble…
