We have reverted to phase 2 restrictions. I doubt they will be in a rush to relax again.

So my guess is no in-person trials, large scale written tests, interviews etc. All in the name of being extra cautious. Probably 2020 format will be repeated this year.[/quote]

The COP for affi kids is determined by schools with note : the number of all affi kids enrolled to the secondary through Sec1 posting is not more than 80% of the vacancy. Most probably Nanyang Primary (and other affi-primarys) will give briefing to P6 parents what is the affi-COP will be this year.
With T-score, Nanyang had affi-COP 250, then coincidentally, last year the girl with t-score 250 had result that converted into AL as AL8 with HCL Merit.
So if this year Nanyang wants the affi-COP is AL8 with Pass, then all its primary girls with AL8 with Pass can get in (as long as still <80% of vacancy)
If Nanyang wants the affi-COP is AL8 without HCL then all its primary girls with AL8 although not taking HCL still can get in (again, as long as still <80% of vacancy)
Okay I get it now. Thank you for your expln.!

D/M/P cut-off for each year can fluctuate depending on the 20% cap for affi.

Because these ranges are not based on actual posting outcomes but simulated.

Hence AL COP may not be directly converted to 2020 Tscore COP. Is only indicative.

With AL scores, decisions on choices of schools may not be the same as the choices made in old system because in old system, the order of choices is not taken into account.

      My agaration:

      AL17 - 220
      AL13 - 235
      AL12 - 237-240
      AL9 - 247-249
      AL8 - 250-256
      AL7 - 257-260
      AL6 - 261

Not so sure why AL8 is such a big range, but I saw NYGH affiliate 250 is AL8, so is DHS 256 = AL8.

Oh I just spotted a fine distinction between Nanyang Girls Affiliated AL8(M)vs Dunman AL8(D)!!

That is to say, if my child gets AL8(M), she cannot get into Dunman because Dunman needs AL8(D).

But she can get into St Nicks -- Express Non-affiliated 5(D) - 8(M)

Likewise, if my child gets AL9(M), she can only make it to Temasek JC AL 4-9, but she cannot qualify for River Valley 4(M) - 9(D)?

This fine distinction btw Distinction and Merit comes into play too. I suspect it's equivalent to 1 T-score point under the old scoring system.

Your child is under the AL scheme, so it's still some years to go, no need to worry so early

Your child can't start studying for them now as there will be new Secondary textbooks ie. syllabus next year 2021 for Chinese, History, Geog and Science. Don't rush to buy second-hand texts or tuition notes from seniors or online shops for sneak previews.

so many new syllabus in 2021? CL I know, from Pri sch.. but history, geog n science too? mind sharing where this info came from?

From a Sec sch bookshop seller and Popular textbook dept.

Current Geog syllabus was 2014, History 2014 & Science 2013. CL was last changed in 2011.
All 4 subject texts will change for 2021 cohort.

Math no change because MOE just changed last year. A new Math textbook \"Think!\" was introduced for 2020 cohort. Seniors of 2019 and older were using another Math textbook.

You can call your sec school bookshop to double check.

May I know for lower primary level, is there tutor that teach all subjects?

I am one of those who teaches all 3 subjects at lower level.

However, I do not think there are many in the markets 🙂

      GTGT,

Besides Math, Eng and Chinese, do you also provide Science tuition to primary school kids?

It's good that you are an all-round tutor. Your child does not need external tuition at all.

Thanks Zac's mum! Really appreciate your help. If they are able to draw the boxes in proportion and also time permits, this shading method is good ... hope your kid's teacher have other easier method .. Especially they need to compare 6 or more fractions of different numerator and denominator fractions. really headache 😂 🕺
In school, they will learn how to make the denominator the same or make the numerator the same, whichever is more expedient. Your child must be strong in LCM, so he knows which denominators or numerators to equalise. Zac's mum has posted the 2 methods above.

You handwrote the questions, but are they from your enrichment centre? The numbers don't look very friendly to me for lower primary. The 3rd one has 6 fractions. Are you sure they are in MOE school papers? At most there are 4 fractions to reorder.
