I had a rat problem too. For a time we had to stop keeping food out in the open. But they have no problem getting into cupboards too. I would recommend putting rat traps if you are able to deal with a living creature stuck in a cage in your kitchen haha.

Ans : If you child intention is just to get distinction, go to school and ask them for past 3 years history of o level distinction results for D & T and ART.. generally, the trend will be consistent because it will show how committed or rigourous the teacher prepares the child for the portfolio. I have personnally experienced in one school where the D&T teachers forces all students to come back during June holidays to work on their portfolio and make them keep redoing until it meets their standard.... while the ART teachers.. enjoy their holiday during june and the results shows..... (not that the Art teachers are lazing... it is just that the D&T teachers are more siao.,.,)

This is similar to what I hear from my friend. Because it is possible to get the marks if you work on it hard enough and in the right way!

My child will be having s2 streaming this yr.
One subject consideration is between choosing Design Tech or Art when she goes s3. Either choice will determine whether she enter Design Tech class or Arts class in s3, with the rest of the 6 subjects offered being exactly the same subjects. Her current score for both DT and Art in s2 are A2. She has no preference at this point yet which subject to choose for s3.

Can anyone advise on the following bet these 2 subjects?
1. does Design Tech class has many more boys than girls?
2. which subject requires more time to prepare?
3. which subject is easily to get distinction or pass?

Hi! I have a friend who used to work as a D&T teacher...
1: It is a equal mix most of the time.
2: Both require your child to do course work and prepare their designs. The students are often the ones staying back in school till late to finish their project.
3: For D&T, it is generally a subject that can be scored in, especially if the teaching team is able to guide the students throughout. There are schools who consistently churn out high volumes of A students. Art on the other hand might be subjective to some, if your child is not inclined then it is not recommended. Both involve quite some time after school to get your work done.

If you can, ask the teachers or HOD how the school's pass and distinction rate.
But at the end of the day daughter needs to decide!!!!
