      Mimama:

I can't seem to see any TV watching session in most of the timetables?

Do they still have time for TV at all?

Hi are you referring to TV time at home? Oh yes, my girl watches TV ard 9pm-9.30pm, Discovery Channel, which is her favourites. Some nights she wil read before sleep or watch her kids channels. She loves Mr Maker.

Btw, she also likes to watch the 7pm channel 8 Taiwan serial!!

I dont have a TV at home and my kids seem to grow up fine. My eldest is 7 and the younger twins are 5.

i dont think they miss much.

they do get to see some cartoons etc on youtube but this is limited to about 5 hrs a week

      cheers

      Thank you all.

I just browsed through the MOE website and note that there are schools with very low registration even at Phase 2 CS stage.

For example Da Qiao Primary in AMK - has 180 vacancies but todate only 68 students have registered. Meaning there would be close to 120 vacancies.

Would these be filled up by foreigners? or wll the school only have 68 students?

and why is the enrollment so low? Not that many kids to go to school?

      Just curious.

      Cheers,

    • RE: Chinese As 2nd Language For non-Chinese

      Hi,

I know this post has been ‘silent’ for over 8 months now.

But I am in a similar predicament.

As we would be moving to Singapore soon it appears that she would have to take either Malay, Tamil or Mandarin as her MT.

We are non-Chinese. My DD has some very basic Mandarin from her Kindie days. Would she be able to take Mandarin as a MT but not tested on the same?

      Cheers,

      Hi Everyone,

      Warm wishes.

      Am a newbie to KSP.

Would be moving to Singapore soon.

Got three kids on tow and a little nervous about both parenting and schooling in Singapore.

Was brought up by very liberal parents myself. Encouraged to be independent from a very young age. Something not really common being a child of the seventies. Anwyays my two siblings and me have done our parents proud.

So far i have allowed my kids to ‘grow’. And I find that they seem to be more curious and inquisitive that way.

I have been browsing the KSP website and my knees are starting to wobble. I mean parents seem to measure the quality of the school by how much homework is given to them? Hope I am doing the right thing.

      Cheers,

    • RE: Opera Estate Primary

I am about to move to Singapore and have three kids with me. Eldest will be in primary two in 2012 and the others to follow suit in 2013.

Planning to stay around the East Coast/Bedok area. I note that both Damai Primary and Bedok West Primary are neighbouring schools with very low Primary 1 intake.

Opera Estate Primary has an equally low intake too.

Any particular reason for the very low intake?

      Cheers,
