    • RE: Use of pencil during exam for Upper Primary Student

      No, I don’t think so. But it think it’s wise to use pencils for the real complicated questions, because you might have to correction-tape it for a while if your statements are wrong, or canceling it will make it look messy.

      ChiefKiasu:
      From Ai Tong Pri 3 SA1 Maths:

      A teacher gave her students some balloons. If she gave 6 balloons to each student, she will have 2 balloons left. If she gave 8 balloons to each student, she will be short of 2 balloons. What is the smallest possible number of students she has?

      Try to do this without using ALGEBRA!
      Excess+Shortage
      ______________ = No. Of Students
      Difference

      So,

      2+2=4
      4/2=2

      So, the answer is 2.

    • RE: Tutor MathsGuru: Ask me for your burning Maths questions!

      How do I solve this kind of questions?:

      There are some apples in boxes A, B and C.
      40% of the oranges in A is equal to 25% of the oranges in B.
      50% of the oranges in B is equal to the number of oranges in C (100%).
      Express the number of oranges in C to A as a fraction.

      I know the answer, but when I solve it things get really complicated. Can someone give me a "fixed" way of solving it? Thanks.
