Hi is there a student care centre in de lasalle primary school, inside the school itself. I heard they were going to have a afterschool care service but not sure if it has started. Tank you

They allocated the space, but still waiting for MOE approval. So might still be awhile....

      Maxine:
Yesterday my daughter came home with Chinese spelling list. She said dunno when is the test. But luckily her aunt taught her the first table.

Today my daughter came home saying she got chinese spelling tomorrow but teacher took away her spelling list today ??? Anyone here has a kid in St Francis 1? Can advise what is happening since my kid is so blur?

I also tot teachers will indicate assignment or instructions on soemthing for us but no school diary yet, then our kids still so blur, I really have no idea what is happening.

Hi there, It sounds very strange. Coz spelling is usually given after the \"ke\" is taught by the teacher. This is only Week 1, to have a spelling test doesn't sound usual. But anyway, let your daughter find out more, time to let them and be independent πŸ˜‰ Marks for spelling are taken into consideration for report book.

Or you might want to email the Chinese Teacher. Their email can be found on the delasalle website.

      Dear Maximo,

I am glad that you feel this way. DLSS is very unique in this way, even St Anthony does not engage Parents as Catechist. We are very grateful that the old and new Principal are very very supportive in our effort. This year, we have a lot of great programs to help develop the kids faith formation. So if you are working full time, maybe you can help us with Prayer Room, that is 7-725am in the morning.

You will find the early session worth-while, you will see many eyes looking at you yearning to know more, to hear about our Loving God.

Can you imagine P1 & 2 coming for 9 days Novena, bringing along their own Rosary, waiting at the door before 7am.

Do let me know if you have some time to spare. Love to have you !

      God Bless.

I was in the orientation this morning. My son is in 1 Bernadette. Done with school bus arrangement and became a bit uncomfortable that my boy will be picked up at 6:25 AM from the bus stop near our flat in Bukit Panjang . Nothing much we can do about that, my wife and I wanted a Catholic education for our kids and we are very happy that we chose DLSS. I'm pleasantly surprised that the PSG is actually involved in Cathecism as this is not the case in my daughter's school, CHIJ-OLQP.

Shaolin8, I think I was the only sympathetic audience to your email about setting up a different group parallel to the PSG. But after attending this morning's event, I actually signed up for the PSG and I look forward to helping out in whatever way I can.

      Dear Shaolin8,

I appreciate concerned parents like you, you are absolutely right about the root cause is MOE, it is the tough PSLE paper that makes all of us and students so stressed. It is all the KPI that school has to fulfill. Am truly grateful that we have you to monitor that for us, and hope you can work with MOE to slowly make the change.

Do come by and chat with us on 27th Dec. In the meantime, let’s all continue to pray to God thru the intercession of St JBDLS for a loving and enriching environment for our Lasallians.

So for now, the Laborers in His vineyard has to get back to manual work. Have to help pack the vineyard to move back to Choa Chu Kang. (Unfortunately as a mission school, MOE does not pay for the moving and packing cost.)

      God Bless.

      Dear Shaolin8

This is the first time I am going into this site.

As a PSG member I would like to express my view. We are NOT CHEAP labours, we are FREE labours, not a cent, so I am afraid we dont even qualify for CHEAP.

But are we happy? WE ARE :rahrah:

Please NOTE that DLSS is a mission school, a school that St John Baptist De La Salle painstakingly built 350 years ago with a mission to provide education for all. He himself was a FREE LABOUR, by giving up all that he had (he was very wealthy, son of a Magistrate) to build a school that gives opportunities to all.

Today, DLSS carries that vision/mission, can be found here
      http://www.delasalle.moe.edu.sg/cos/o.x?c=/wbn/pagetree&func=view&rid=80147

To be persons for others, to be caring citizens.

      Are you aware of that?

or are looking for a school who drills and drills exams paper 1 after another. Top scorer, Top PSLE, GEP.. You might have to rethink what your expectations are.

DLSS does many Learning, experiential camps for the kids from P1. They get to learn, experience, reflect during the camps. My son just came back from Service Learning from Ipoh and sharing love and joy with children in an Orphanage. P4 Lasallians made gift for neighbours around Teck Whye and thank them for their understanding of the disturbance the school might have caused.

The Lasallians get to learn to put others first, what better way as Parents we can show them by demonstrating that to them by being a FREE LABOUR.

I truly and wholeheartedly am grateful for the numerous programs that the Character Development department is doing for my children. But will my children had so many opportunities if all these projects are totally dependent on the teachers, who already have their hands so full with academic work. I can tell you NO. That is when our help comes in.

And you ask, what is the reward for all these?? Well, to be able to know my children's friends, to build a non-threatening relationship with the teachers, to have a troubled child come and share their problems with me and in turn giving them a hug and reassurance. That is just too much SALARY for me, this FREE LABOURER !

In order for you and your child to enjoy the next 6 years, you have to set your expectations right, help the school in whatever way you can so that the teachers can focus, to work with your child on the academic aspect to bring out the best.

Looking forward to meeting you on the 27 Dec with our BIG smile πŸ˜„ and welcoming you into our communty in our signature green tees.

Once a Lasallian, always a Lasallian as they say, same goes for PSG !!

God bless and have great week ahead.

If you would like to find out more about PSG, do drop me a PM.
