    • RE: Marymount Kindergarten

my 2 daughters are from marymount and the younger is graduating this year.

yesterday she went for concert practice and came back w scratches all over under her arms. many were red and swollen. they were apparently from the sequins on the concert dress. she told the teacher and the teacher just told her tomorrow will be ok and we weren’t even informed. On top of that, we paid $135 for the dress and she only wore it once yesterday and the veil around the waist was already torn and there was a ribbon that was supposedly sewn on has also fallen and we had to pin it back.

not long before they has a kidzania overnight stay program on a school day and school for 2 days was cancelled because the kids will be there 2 days. thing is this, the combined enrollment for morning and afternoon session was about 60 ppl and the kidzania trip was for only 30 ppl based on first come first serve! meaning if you submitted your form later(or happened to count your form later even if you submitted first, which i did submit on time), your child will miss school 2 days while they are at kidzania if you form reach late…its regular school days!. i had to make noise before my child got to go and I DID NOT SUBMIT THE FORM LATE AT ALL.

then every year we will go to the class to celebrate my daughters BD w goody bags etc and can really see the discipline deterriating. the kids were so rowdy and noisy when we were in the class preparing the cake etc. the kids weren’t even distracted by us or looking at us but running all over while the teacher was teaching( a few poor good kids were just sitting there feeling bored, which included my duaghter waiting for the other kids to settle). and the teacher just told me sorry that the kids are like this everyday!!!

have a check at the change of principal. the principal we had was good in 2013 when my elder was there, many learning journey trips was things organised were fair and good for the kids.

now it is just terrible. its the last year for my daughter so i decide to complete it. but i will not send children there anymore.

Difference between a and a star is not how many past yr paper u have done. A star calibre gets an answer and know WHAT E NUMBER MEANS. But A calibre likely to be able to manipulate numbers based on what they have learnt n might not know what e number means thought they managed to get an answer.

From ext year e format has change n nn instead of kca, qn’s r based on authencity levels. Like it or not, expect more of this. For me I like it cos it makes number’s real n thus relevant in life.

Imagine…a man goes to a shop to buy A4 paper:

Man: uncle A4 paper 1 pack.
Uncle: nah ( passed him 2packs of A5 pack cos he happened to have more stock of A5 paper n willing to charge 2 A5 for lesser than 1 A4)
      Man: uncle I want A4.
      Uncle: 2 A5 pack n 1 A4 pack same what. Means u dunno if u join 2 A5 can get A4? Some more cheaper.
      Man: but I want A4!
Uncle: nah I give u sticky tape free u go home join.
Man: but I need whole piece A4 cost I using for printer to print document!
Uncle: say early lah! Next time be clear of what u want then we don’t waste each other time.
Uncle: take out a pack of A4 paper finally.

Is e man being ambiguous of what he wants or e uncle being unreasonable?
      U be e judge.

E qn is an authentic one. Ppl who say join ribbon, if u want to buy 5 pcs of 100cm ribbon n e last piece is join w glue using 40n60cm…will u accept e reason being we ran out of full 100cm. N if can join then might as well slice along e run to half or even thirds then u get triple e quantity without compromising on length.

If ur boss ask u to organise a party n needed 200 ribbons to tie this is exactly how u need to calculate n get full 110cm length. Will u go buy loose small pcs n join n tell ur boss is creativity?. Boundaries allows thinking to be stretched. If forces u to think what u can do. This is a good question. If students think logically they should get it. Go ask ur kids how long is a school bus or how much water is in a swimming pool u will be surprise most of them do not have any sense what meter n cubic meter means though they do it all e time. Time to learn that numbers r real n in thus qns, e number’s e authentic n real.

      w1nn1eth3p00h:

hello! just a p6 student passing by but, i personally found both paper 1 and 2 relatively easy. as for the last question of booklet b, the answer is 48 but i vaguely remember the question. if i'm not wrong, the question goes a little something like this:

\" The sum of points collected by groups A and B is 30. The sum of points collected by groups B, C , and D is 90. The points that group B collected to the total points collected by all the groups is 1:5 . How much points did group B get?\" *disclaimer* ( This question isn't meant to be solved but this is the concept of the question) 😄

      I remember this question.
      Its goes like this :
A school participated in a fund raising competition. The total sum contributed by Class a and b is $108 while the total sum contributed by class b,c and d is $180. Class b contributed 1/5 of what a,c and d contributed. How much did class b contribute? :xedfingers:

      B=1 unit
      Total =6 unit
      108+180=7units
R e numbers correct? Or sample only

Appreciate for any replies wrt to a 2marks question in Booklet B:

Question goes somewhat like this... feel free to edit if any DC can have a clearer recall of the question..

There are 5 boys. At any time, only 4 boys can play. They played for 2 hours. How long did each boy play on average? TIA!
      Total time = 120 min × 4 = 480min
      480/5=96min

just a quick feedback on marymount:

my elder graduated there and back then was great. more outings, and school fees covers all lessons during the curriculum time.
when it comes to ,y younger daughter(still in marymount now k2), there is barely any outing at all. and they have inserted gym, computer n classes during the curicumlum time. (for the elder it was optional after school hours). and you have to sign up and pay extra 100plus per term for each classess, otherwise when the those who signed up go for classes, yours will stay in class do coloring etc.
during birthday celebration when i went and waited outside the class, the class was very noisy and disorganised. and not changing cos its her last year, i wouldnt send my 3rd kid there if i have one.

At 24min(o.4hr), Peter reached. meaning dave covered 2km lesser in 0.4hr.

      therefore distance between town a n b = 0.4 x 70 + 2=30km

      Peter speed = 30/0.4 hr = 75km/h

    • RE: Any good children art class teacher to learn to really draw.

before sending your child to art classes,

be mindful that art skills (drawing, painting, clay work etc) and art processes (imagination, creativity) are 2 very different things.

think of it like language, you learn grammar, syntax, vocab etc in order to write a story or poem for example. the story cannot be wrong cos its your story but the grammar or sentence structure can be wrong. Yet, at a certain level, you can actually let the grammar be wrong and make your story better by playing w language. same can be done in art.

most centers teaches specific art skills though. Thus many parents find that it discourage imagination and creativity. but at some point, skills may be neccessary so that ppl can understand whats in your art.

that said, at younger age, allow kids to speak thru their art( thus allowing them to drawing without restriction is more improtant that skill) cos skill can be better picked up at a later age. some kids are talented in the sense that they are very good using the medium to translate their emotion and allows you to feel with them without any teaching…this is talent.
