RE: Do we really know our children well enough?
When one of our kids was in primary school, she loved art. We encouraged the hobby from the time she wasn’t very good, till the time she was quite good. She didn’t like to study as hard as her other siblings. Then, she decided that she likes to analyze things. We encouraged that too, by brainstorming with her about current affairs. She is now studying law at a local university. We won’t know what she is interested or good in next, but we’ll continue to be supportive.

RE: How to motivate your child to read independently?
I myself love to read. That got my kids curious, from a young age. A lot of their pocket money is spent on books, magazines or now that they are older, online subscriptions to business journals. Of course, when they run low on cash, I give them money to top up their wallets

RE: Any gynae to recommend?
If anyone lives in the Eastern part of Singapore, Dr Heng Tung Lan is very good. Experienced, calm, friendly…and she explains everything very well so that we don’t feel worried.

RE: Recipes For Healthy Eating
I download recipes from the internet. Admittedly, after I have cooked and eaten healthy food, I sometimes (often?) eat something sinful like chocolate. But overall, we try to eat balanced meals. Helps us think better in school and at work.

RE: How to grow taller???
I am about 1.6m, and my husband is about 1.85. My kids are as tall as he is. Might be due to genes, or the milk, or the regular exercise and outdoor activities

RE: Meditation for mental health
I read up on different techniques (using Google) and modified to suit my needs. Very useful in times of stress. Ten to fifteen minutes a day works wonders, for me

RE: Thyroid disorder
Sometimes, trembling hands, fast heart beat, weight loss (if the situation is hyperthyroidism). After it has been brought under control with simple drugs (over a 1 year period), there is likely to be weight gain of perhaps 5kgs, unless the person eats and exercises moderately
