Hi,
This is how we typically advise our sec 2 going sec 3 students:
1. In this case, i'll advise to go with a combi with Chem (Chemistry is the central science. Without any O-level Chemistry, most likely you will not be allowed to do Chemistry in JC/ poly which in turn will bar you from taking any unversity courses related to the life sciences, such as medicine, dentistry, pharmacy etc.) Impt at this stage not to close doors on such opportunities.
2. Physics-wise. It can be challenging. Which makes learning exciting. It is basically a test of concepts and how well one applies it. A lot of times, students are overwhelmed with too much info and examples. But if we take a step back and understand the concept behind it, it is actually just but a simple concept.
FYI, If student wants go into Engineering or Aviation, you must take Physics.
Hope this helps

RE: How to do well for English?
With writing, practice really makes perfect. Getting used to fancy vocabulary, alliterations or a particular style will eventually make her write as beautifully and naturally as possible. A good guide is coming up with compos every week and having them analysed and improved accordingly.

RE: Comparing Enrichment Programme versus Private Tutor
Especially for science, sharing & discussion that arise from a group tuition will benefit learning.
For eg, one student may offer a thought that the other does not consider. When a teacher opens a topic & the students interact to deliver a complete answer, such active learning is the best way to absorb knowledge.
Hope this point of view helps!

When a ball reaches its max height, the force of gravity acting on the ball is the greatest.
Tks[/quote]Hi, this qn relates to the principle of conservation of energy.
Consider a ball being thrown upwards, the total energy is simply the sum of Grav. Potential Energy(GPE) + Kinetic Energy(KE)= constant
GPE depends on mass & height. KE depends on mass & velocity.
As ball goes up higher, KE is being converted to GPE in order that total energy is a constant.
So at max height, KE is zero(as ball's velocity is zero at that instant) giving GPE to be greatest.
This max GPE is the result of max grav. force acting on the force.

Bobby, Edward and Kelvin made a bottle of paper stars. The number of paper stars Bobby made was 21 more than 1/4 the total number of paper stars in the bottle. The number of paper stars Edward made was 30 more than 1/4 of the remaining number of paper stars in the bottle. Kelvin made the remaining 114 paper stars. How many paper stars did they make in all?
Q43
A, B and C are three numbers. The average of A, B and C is 5 greater than the average of A and B. If C is 38, find the total of A, B and C.

Siti had some money. She gave some money to Kelly and Lindy and saved the rest. The ratio of her savings to the amount she gave away was 5: 8. The ratio of Kelly's money to Lindy's money was 5: 3 at first. After Kelly's money increased by $128 and Lindy's money decreased by $128, the ratio of Kelly's money to Lindy's money became 3: 1. How much money did Siti save?

RE: Comparing Enrichment Programme versus Private Tutor
Either suits, depending on the needs on the student.
If tuition is needed due to falling behind of a subject, one-to-one would be perfect.
However, if tuition is to supplement & encourage more practice on the subject, group tuition can further enrich the students' learning.
