Dear parents, you have one more day to exercise your option. Think carefully with your dear child and decide for yourself the Best school your dear child will enjoy for the next 6 years. Indeed, a very important one and don’t take it lightly.

IF you have the time, try to make a trip down to the schools and mingle with the students. Only then will you have a better picture of what kind of students the school will produce and how your dear child will be like in 6 years’ time. It’s what you see and what you get, MHO. Good Luck!

I also wish that more DHS parents do come forward to share abt their kids' stuff / happenings in DHS....
But seems that there are very few DHS active parents around.... πŸ˜‰
i asked abt the feedback from Yr4 parents regarding the recent LA paper... there's no response...

i rmb one of the parents here ever asked me this question..\"why am i the only one here holding the fort\".... LoL...
There are times i am rather discourage to talk too....seems like having monologue....

Hi Augmum,
Don't be discouraged....I am one parent here who is very grateful to you for your selfless contributions in this thread. My dd is in Yr 1 this year and I have a lot to learn from you. Thanks!

Yes Augmum, :udawoman:

I believe all parents are very grateful for all you have done. Keep up your good work!

Which school's IP program is better? Cedar or St nicks? Anyone who knows can tell me?

URL: http://www.moe.gov.sg/media/press/2011/11/implementation-of-integrated-programme-on-track.php

Cedar JC partner is VJC (source: VS+Cedar)
St nicks is New JC (source: CHS+St Nicks+SCGS)

Personally, I feel the 1st combination is neater and VJC, being an established JC, completes a formidable partnership

• RE: COP 2012 - For Secondary Schools in 2013

My dd 252+3 did not get into DHS

COP for DHS is 256 (inclusive of HCL).

Try to call the school and find out when the last day for appeal.
In the meantime, try to prepare a personal portfolio (academic + cca achievements, with certification photostated).

You might want to attend the talk in DHS (get the appeal form too!) and send your other half with your child to the posted school.

Quite a good chance. If you have any favourable CCA, you stand even a better chance!

Hi, I have a question on logistics. What is the best way to get from a Circle Line MRT station to DHS?

From the map, I see a bus-stop right outside the school. But there is only 1 bus service, 158. Is this bus service frequent?

The bus-stop on Fort Road - how long do you take to walk there from DHS?

We are interested in DHS, but the journey there does not seem to be convenient?

Thanks

Most students would drop at Moubatten Station and take a 10 mins walk through the entrance in front of the library.

Yes, Mountbatten Stn - walk abt 10~15 min. You can also take 158 outside the stn.

During term time, I believe the school has made special arrangement with SBS. During peak, there is an addition bus 158A looping between Aljunied Rd (Aljunied Stn) - Tanjong Rhu in the morning as well as in the afternoon during those hours when class are dismiss. Sometimes, you can also see these buses waiting along the road beside the school field.

From Fort Rd to DHS, I believe is abt 5~10 min walk.
I'm not sure if this topic is posted in the right section but i do need to ask as i am not entirely sure of it. Sorry, if i posted this in the wrong section because i'm a newbie.
I am a Primary 6 student this year and has received a Confirmation Offer to a school that i have applied for through DSA.
When can we go down to the school to purchase the uniform?
I read a reply in another topic that you can actually purchase your new uniforms from the school where you were offered a place through DSA after August!
Is that true for all schools?
Even Dunman High School, because that is the school i received the Confirmed Offer from?

Thank you, i appreciate your help!

icecubism,
Firstly, my congrats to u for obtaining Co fr DHS....... πŸ˜„
Yes, u can purchase the sch uniforms the moment u received yr CO, unless u wanna to change yr mind.... πŸ˜‰
icecubism, welcome to DHS!

The school suppliers info can be found in the school website (http://www.dhs.sg/school-suppliers.html).

Other than reporting day, the school uniform and tie can be brought from Shanghai School Uniform @ Bras Basah Complex (Tel:63382741) and the PE attires can be bought at the school bookshop (Tel:6447 5998). Do give them a call before you go down to check on their opening hours and stocks. The school bookshop is just beside the school canteen.
