Panda1828:After reading what some parents wrote about St Stephen's - the rampant bullying, the \"bo chap\" attitude of the teachers and lack of action by the school management as well as wanting to transfer their sons out of the school, I am very concerned as my boy will be going there next year.
I did have some concerns about the school like its lacking in Chinese standard, its bullying but I did hear some encouraging feedback from a few mummies who are involved in the school's parent support programme.
Though SSS was not my 1st choice school, it was my Plan B as my son didn't have a chance at our 1st choice school due to distance and I didn't want to go through the stress of balloting. So I pray hard that my son will be able to adapt well and 'survive' in the school!!
Really, if there are concerns, I am very sure the Principal will not ignore but take a serious view and do something. I will raise my concerns at the orientation. Hope other KS parents with sons still there can come together to help our sons adapt to the school's environment and hopefully improve the school's image.
Hi, I am doing a bit of research into St Stephen's - my hubs (an old boy) plans to send my son there in two years' time. I've heard so many negative comments about the school, I'm really reluctant to send him there, but my hubs is quite insistent. Mainly because of distance and religion - there aren't any other Catholic/ Christian schools within 1-2 km from where we live. It's a real headache! My preferred choice is St Hilda's, it being a Christian-based school near our home (but still > 2 km). What's more, it's a co-ed school - someone rightly pointed out that with girls, at least there would be some balance and the boys would be less rowdy. Do you think it is unwise for us to register him in this school (we'll have to wait till Phase 2C, and most likely will have to ballot)? Any advice?? This is especially important for me as I have a second son (though he won't be due for P1 until 7 years later!). Help...
