RE: Marymount Convent
michyms, I love cakes & pastries but not my elder DD. She’s a huge fan of rice though. Yes, DD’s caregiver cooks dinner for hubby and I. We reckon, DD will be hungry so thought it’ll be good to give her dinner straight away rather than a snack and risk her not eating dinner later. That was what happened to my nephew last year. He’ll take something while on his way home and by then won’t be able to eat his dinner.
U were allowed to ride in the sch bus with DD? That’s very nice of the driver. It was a no no for the Yishun bus. -
RE: Marymount Convent
Hi fmastuki,
Glad to hear that your DD has adapted well to the sch bus. Her pick up time is almost the same as my DD and I believe Yishun is much nearer than Pasir Ris. I was also a sch bus rider and was picked up at an ungodly hour of 5:30am!
You’re lucky to have a good and reliable driver. The same can’t be said of the bus rider that picks my DD. My DD told me she’s the only one who belt up and the girls walk freely in the bus. Even the bus aunty was not nice! My daughter tried to tell her she was cold (she wasn’t feeling well) but she simply ignored her. My daughter only took the bus on the 1st day and already came home telling me about P2 ‘verbally bullying the P1’. As such, we decided on the alternative transport which will costs us more but at least I’ll have peace of mind. -
RE: Marymount Convent
michyms, no wonder she doesn't eat much for lunch since her breakfast looks heavy. Think my DD skips breakfast cos she usually wakes up around 9+ 10. If she eats breakfast, it's usually just a pc of toast with milo or choc milk.
It's homecooked. Hubby will collect the rice from my caregiver's place before picking DD from sch. 8+ for dinner, think will be too late for DD. May be that explains the difference in size, your DD and mine!

RE: Marymount Convent
michyms, a granola and a glass of soy milk, that's too little for lunch, can't sustain her till recess. Does she take breakfast? If yes, may be timing too close hence she's not hungry for lunch.
My girl is picky so all she buys from canteen is milo, choc milk and cereal. Hence we pack snack for her. Anyway, when we pick her in the evening, will pack rice for her so she eats her dinner in the car on the way home

RE: Marymount Convent
Hi fmastuki,
I live in Yishun. There’s a school bus but the problem is she’ll need to spend 1.5hrs in the bus. She’s the 1st to be picked up although her caregiver’s place is on the ‘outer part of Yishun’. If you’re familiar with Yishun, caregiver’s place is near Khatib which the bus starts and moves to Yishun central then comes back to Khatib again before proceeding to sch. Tried talking to the bus operator about the route but all I get it ‘it’s like that one lah’.
Was hopefully the 2nd bus operator could give a better timing but too bad they backout last minute. -
RE: Marymount Convent
SP Mum, the only text book she brings home is Chinese. Other than that, all books are kept in the locker.
Think the teacher is quite mindful about them having heavy bags hence most of the books are kept in sch. Will bring back worksheets to do.
How’s your DD getting along? Asked my DD to befriend yours and I think she did talk to her on a few occasions. -
RE: Marymount Convent
michyms, she takes porridge for lunch around 11. Will usually shower 1st so lunch is last before she goes off to sch. Will pack a snack for her too.
My DD is a picky eater so porridge is the best option, will throw veg, chicken/fish and she eat them all

RE: Marymount Convent
michyms, oh wow, that's very nice of her to give out her mobile number. DD's form teacher only gave email and office number in the welcome note.
My godpa is helping me to send her till my cousin gets his taxi next mth
Yes, it's a load off my mind. At least she could eat lunch at a proper time rather than at 10am in the morning! -
RE: Marymount Convent
Hi michyms, the bridging module is conducted during cirriculum time, 2 periods of it. That’s why I’m worried that it’ll be at the expense of the core module. Really wonder how it works. Guess will have to wait till the briefing on 3/2.
You’ve your DD’s form teacher’s mobile number? She responds to sms, that’s so nice of her.
I know what you mean, I’m also tired all the time! My dd has more or less settled into the routine, just bracing for more homework! I’ve made alternate arrangement for the transport to school hence she doesn’t need to be on the bus for 1.5hr and that helped greatly.
