wonderm:You reminded me of my ds1 when he was younger. He made so many careless mistakes in maths papers then, I remembered coming out with a 'check list' of 6 or 7 checks for different types of careless mistakes. Didn't really improve very much even with that 'check list'. As he grew older, he made less and less careless mistakes. After he entered Sec school, he hardly make careless mistakes and can score full marks or close to full marks for maths tests.Really ah? My ds's carelessness is legendary. IF he can \"cure\" his carelessness, his marks will shoot. I nag and nag him to check and double check but each time, it is still the same. Don't have the heart to scold him anymore, as he is also disappointed. Asked me why his own brain is always so cloudy....what can I say? Maybe it just hasn't bloom...gpnjm:
I always think boys tend to do better in p3 onwards. In p1 and p2, most boys tend to be still playful and immature, whilst the girls are generally more careful in their work. But come p3, they tend to blossom and do very well.. Especially in math and science.
From my observation, the top 3 in class are usually girls in p1 and p2. P3 onwards, there are usually more boys than girls among those top students.
Hopefully your boys will out grow their carelessness too.
Yes, I hv a checklist for him too, but only 3 items, he cannot remember more than that. Wonderm, did your ds outgrow his carelessness by P6?It's comforting to hear encouraging examples. I am all for giving ds time to develop and grow, but our education system does not really allow that. If he does not \"wake up\" by P6, the consequence might be quite..er...unpleasant. I feel terrible rushing his development and thus stressing him, but what can I do? Maybe I am wrong, but just felt that his results does not reflect his knowledge or potential. It is frustrating when you see that he knows his work but yet just could not perform during exams.
Well, frustration aside, am still trying to keep my spirits up...add oil! add oil! start afresh and work hard! Hopefully can get good news by SA2.
