      tjoseph833:
Hi ... things have got worse for my DS. He jumped 150 deg in one year ... its 650 deg each eye now and he's only 7. Am going for atropine 0.01% ... appointment with Dr Yvvone Ling in SNEC.

We tried myovision lenses, eye exercises, reduce reading / TV / iPad, evenings in park etc. Both me and wife are high myopes so its prob genetics and environment. Its frustrating when we come across 'experts' who promote eye exercises like Power Vision Forum (http://www.powervisionforum.com/forum/forum.php) and Leo Angart (http://www.vision-training.com/). I even attended some of these seminars and bought countless books.

Has anyone had similar experience with their kids? Did atropine help slow the progress and stabilize?
      Any other methods that work?

Thanks in advance for sharing. Any advice is much appreciated 🙂

Hi we did all that we can, good eye habit, outdoors activities, no hand held games...etc and the condition didn't stabilise. Did u attend Leo Angart vision training seminar? We tried it and it is not effective to us and my girl eyesight worsen from 400 to 600 now.

    • RE: All About Kids' Eye-sight

Hi just came back from SNEC appt. I don’t understand the procedure, my girl went throughout the cycloplegic refraction test and all the necessary procedure the whole morning and after discussing with Dr Elaine Chong, she said she can put my girl on atropine treatment, however we were asked to go back on 18 June and said that the myopic centre couldn’t attend to us now and the earliest date is 18 June. And I guess on the 18 June, we may need to go through the whole procedure again and then assess again if my girl is needed to prescribe with atropine. Anyone knows the procedure? Are we going around in circle? It seems like no one in SNEC can clearly tell me what’s next.

Glad to hear that most who tired are stabilising… It is definitely a confident boost for me and many out there. Heard that 0.01% atropine has lesser side effect such as glaring. I hope that she is suitable for it. She is only 9 and heart ache to see her eyesight worsen and I am zero help to her.

I'm skeptical about the Bates method too. DD's eyes got worse with it. Also went to NEC for atropine and finally stabilised.

We have an appt at SNEC on 17 April for consultation, hopefully her eyes are suitable for atropine. Probably this is the last resort to slow down her worsen. Any side effects your DD experience? What is the atropine % used? Thks.

Hi, we went for the workshop by Leo Angart too and have been training since then… However my girl eye sight is getting worse and now we are seeking help from the National Eye centre for the option of atropine (0.01%).

Hi, I am new here. Understand from the MOE tabulation, that within 1km there is no balloting and we fall within this category. Did anyone receive any confirmation letter under phase 2b yet? After going through such stressful P1 excerise, I guess i would not want a second time. Hope to link up with new and experience parents out there.

      Hi GPP,

So ur child get a seat in Rosyth sch? So those within 1KM got a place what is total applicant less than 1KM?

      Hi Jongsn
Yes we managed to get in for phase 2b within 1km. If i didnt remember wrongly, for phase 2B within 1km, there were aboout 22-23 applicants.

      HI gpp,

Thxs for your informations,i've checked in Rosyth website and the application for PV is closed..I have been trying to find out about appealing to CHIJOLN in case i fail to get into Rosyth.(I do not want to end up choosing another school in phase3.)
However, chances are very slim so i guess the best solution is to put my girls together in OLN and have them take care of each other and i don't have to go thru the balloting motion again...just too bad..the ratios are bt 4 applicants : 1 place in phase2c..a tough fight!..sincerely, thxs you for your analysis and advice!!

      no problem..just sharing thoughts...

    • RE: Rosyth

Hi auntie lynn, I feel that getting into Rosyth is getting tougher every year. Let’s take this year for example, the intake was cut by 30 numbers and in Phase 1 more than 30 places were taken up compared to 2010. The tension has accerlated from balloting in 2C within 1km to 2B between 1 to 2km. Having said that there are still ways to improve the chances of getting in, such as PV and grassroots avenues but NO GUARANTEE. FYI : Registration for PV in Rosyth take place 2 years before the registration (you can call the school to ask). Phase 2B eligiblity will be given to grassroots leaders who have served 1 year of service as an executive member in the GRC.

Considering your situation, the new place that you are moving in is about 1.7m away from CHIJOLN and your elder girl is in the school, it may be easier for logistic arrangement and the sisters can take care of each other at school.

I think balloting is needed for within 1 km. Most probably the school will tell parents who stay more than 1 km to register at other school. My friend was there this morning and she spent about 30 mins to q and to register.

I was told the balloting is on 5 aug 9 am.
