Something is extremely wrong if Uni or even poly students are having tuition. Frankly uni tuition is totally unheard of during our days. At that age, you are supposed to be able to source for your own material and do self study. All the arguments abt poor teaching, poor textbooks should not be relevant at this level. The fact that employers pay a premium for graduates with irrelevant degrees is because these people are proven to be problem solvers and self learners. If the trend for uni tuition continues, I seriously worry abt the quality of our future work force

die lah...uni still need tuition

I think this is a reflection of the fact that students are becoming too reliant on tuition. If you've relied on tuition since primary school to get you through, you will of course struggle at university or poly if there is no-one to help you.

This is a by-product of the system as it is now.
:goodpost:

We are seeing a generation of spoon-fed learners.... the learning journey that emphasis much in the pursuing of good result/branded school and whatnot... Winning the race takes precedence.

The comtemptous act was not just the books burning, he took pictures, posted it on Stomp, and, the next day he posted another picture of that bonfire event with caption on Kiss92 official Facebook page.... Seriously, does it look like it was just a private \"cathartic and fun\" celebration for the ending of PSLE? Or his intention was more to that?

He is described as a \"knowledgable and witty\" guy in Kiss92 website 😆 .... that much of it!

Well I think he has gotten what he wants - a publicity stunt. Frankly I didn't even know the existence of this Kiss92 radio station before this
So there, he succeeded in letting this Auntie knows the existence of his new radio station.

But on the expense of our education system? Made another bad publicity of SG MOE and our nation in the Asia community? I find it hard to accept...

Not being personal here, if he has grouses, please come to KSP.com to vent... no arson, please.

Or, just simply reject the PSLE participation.
Hmm... just to clarify, which rule?
Is it the one that I asked of whether it is possible for a child to employ a maid to take care of an aged parent?

The problem is that the old parent is not staying with any of the children, but is too old (105) to hire any maid herself. The option is to either send her to a nursing home, which I think nobody wants if they have a choice, or to have someone take care of her full-time.

You said that she is too old to employ a maid. That's what I was referring to. I don't think there's any rule that says employer must not be too old.

OK... i see what you mean. My original post was ambiguous it seems, on hindsight.

What I had meant, was not whether there's any rule to prevent anyone that is too old, to employ a maid.
I meant that this old woman, at 105, is simply too old and frail and it is illogical to expect her to go and employ a maid by her self.
And the question is whether the law allows one of her children to be the applicant to hire a maid, but the maid is supposed to stay with and take care of the elderly woman.
@Atrecord:- yes, it's possible for the child of an elder to apply to either share the existing maid (working at two different addresses), or apply for another to work for the the aged parent but under the child's employment. You need to go to MOM personally to obtain the approval, best is to do before the maid selection.

Yup, it’s this bad… even as a driver myself, i have to say this, lots and lots of drivers are just blatantly rude, even they are sitting in the comfort of their own cars!.. imagine if these rude drivers were to board the public transports…

If throwing the books into the rubbish chute is the same (being incarcinated anyway) then why bother to burn them in public?.. It’s the ACT that matters… not where or how the books end up.

The complex negative emotion behind such act is, nothing but contempt!

.
Will they burn their PSLE certificate too?
.
.
.
In fact, I wonder why hadn’t they thought of boycotting PSLE all together? Cannot afford to miss PSLE?
