A matter of fact, do not even engage tuners charging below $60 or $70. They’re either not properly trained or there to do a quick job and leave. Do not for the sake of saving a bit of money engage such tuners. There are many ‘grades’ of tuners, the really pro ones charge $100 and above. Especially for those with good pianos, do not let substandard tuners tune your pianos, they may damage your piano’s tuning pins with improper tuning technique, or break strings etc… I’ve heard lots of bad things…

RE: Missed ABRSM registration
FQW:
I've had students missing the closing dates before... As long as you go down personally to register within a few days no problem. Penalty fee is about $40, if i don't remember wrongly.Haydn:
Still can. Go down to ABRSM office personally on mon. Register in person but must pay penalty fee.
You made my day, Haydn! I've been kicking myself since yesterday when I found out I missed the registration. Recently quite bogged down with work and other stuff, it simply slipped my mind. -

RE: All About Choosing and Buying Pianos
Kohler and Campbell is owned by Samick and is made in Korea. 8800 might as well buy a new Yamaha U1 or Kawai K3.

Don’t buy U1J. It’s made in indonesia. Not comparable to a made in Japan U1. For 5-7k you can buy a 10 yr or less Japan made U1, this is what i’ll recommend. 20 year old U1 can be bought at around 4k from dealers or even less from private sellers on the net.

Yamaha U3 are never made in China. The H in front of the serial no refers to U3H. Morover China production only started in the early 2000s and lasted only a few years. U3H is made in Japan and likely 30 plus years old. Hope this helps.
