I think SUSS was previously SIM or something?
Previously UniSIM. Refer to http://www.suss.edu.sg/about-suss/Overview/Pages/Milestones.aspx -
RE: SUSS (Singapore University of Social Sciences)
phtthp:
how well is this SUSS degree recognised, compared to those who graduated from NUS with similar degree?
I think the answer is obvious, it will take SUSS some years to establish itself. That said, I am curious about the course content and quality of lecturers hired. -

Updated the topic, thanks for the suggestion.

Maybe you could update the thread topic to include the full name: SUSS (Singapore University of Social Sciences)? Easier for people to understand - and will turn up in search results too.

They are having an open house on 24 Feb 2018, 11am-5pm. So maybe you can go down to enquire more?
Besides info from the website, I would like to hear from any students or anyone who has more info or experience with SUSS undergraduate programs particular with business degree. -
RE: SUSS (Singapore University of Social Sciences)
I would like to find out more info about the latest local Uni - I believe they only have 1 batch in 2016/2017 (under SUSS banner). Appreciate any feedback on COP for business finance course, lecturers etc. Thanks in advance.

Beside the 2 bonus points, you can also skip Chinese in JC.
Agree also. That's also our strategy. :xedfingers:zeemimi:
HCL is not really unimpt. the 2 bonus comes in really handy if you are looking at the more popular jcs. -
RE: All About Taekwondo
It's been a long time since I logged on to KSP and I am surprised that this thread that I started 6 years ago is still alive.
Training got more intense in 2008-2010 after my 1st post but my children had stopped TKD for various reasons. I wrote a thank you note to my kids' club sometime back and thought that perhaps parents and children here would find it useful.
http://www.stf.sg/modules/news/article.php?storyid=1259
In a nutshell, TKD is not just about how well you kick or block, but also to develop and learn the discipline, fighting spirit and attitude that you need to bring into the sport. -
RE: O Level Results 2013
cassia:
I believe it will still be by merit. The black swan situation is more <5 pointers pick (VJC &) TJC for some reasons although this could be abit irrational. For allocation of JC, I wonder if it's the same as Sec 1 Posting, where MOE allocates places by merit. That means, for example, opting for all Science Stream,
Choice 1 : VJC
Choice 2 : TJC
Choice 3 : MJC
With nett of 5 pts, pupil X doesn't qualify for Choice 1 as VJ's COP is 4. By merit, she should be posted into TJC as its COP is 5.
However, if allocation is not by merit, but by order of priority also, with high demands of many opting TJC, even 6 & 7 pointers as Choice 1, then pupil X will not stand a chance anymore, having places TJC as 2nd choice. So she may get only her 3rd or even last few choices?
Anyway, good luck! -
RE: Which poly is better for accountancy?
Quick question,
If A has 14 points and 4 bonus points; and B has 12 and 2 bonus points, vying for a place, who stands a better chance? B? -
RE: Which poly is better for accountancy?
What a surprise, his results turned out so different from expectations.
Subjects - (Prelim) O level
=================
EL1 - (C5) A2
E Maths - (A1) A1
A Maths - (A1) A2
Principle of Accounting - (A2) B4
Combined Science - (A2) A1
Humanities - (B4) B3
Literature - (C5) B3
L1R5 - 12, after CCA, 10
L1R4 - 9, after CCA 7.
Now he wants to go JC :slapshead: and eyeing MJC although the COP is 9. Anyone thinks he shouldnt waste his time trying and perhaps appealing? -

RE: All About A Levels
For car ownership, you have to consider car depreciation (at least 5-10k yearly depending on condition and make), insurance, petrol, car servicing, parking cost etc.
Another option that you should consider is to rent a room near the school, that cuts down on your travelling time and cost but that may mean you have to consider other living costs like meals and utility charges. It is a closer cost comparison to taking taxi.
IMHO you need to be mentally prepared to bite the bullet and just do what other students do. I know of students who live in JB and study in SG, and I think they are really motivated. -
RE: Veterinarian
Found another similar course at NP
http://www.np.edu.sg/lsct/courses/vbs/Pages/default.aspx
Again, any feedback would be much appreciated. -
Veterinarian
My DD wants to be a vet and she wants to find out more info on the study path. Some info that we gathered so far
1) Need to further studies in Aus or UK for the degree, which will take 5-6 years. Vet science degree is not available in SG.
2) Need to take triple science
3) Need to have excellent grades
We were told that she needs to take triple Science but unfortunately, she opted for only double science (Bio/Chem) in Sec 3. Would this affect her chance of progressing in the study path?
I am currently reading up more info at
http://www.sva.org.sg/page.asp?maincatid1=&value1=21&_Careers
Any feedback and advice would be much appreciated. -
RE: Which poly is better for accountancy?
ssmummy:
I would go for SP...
Thanks for responding, ssmummy. Any reasons or feedback why you say so?
Some friends told me SP has better prestige, their programs are more mature and lecturers more experience. The distance needed to travel is IMHO too far and he could use the time to study/rest instead.
Still, I would be glad to hear more feedback. His prelim results for L1R4 is
EL1 - C5
E Maths - A1
A Maths - A1
Principle of Accounting - A2
Combined Science - A2
Humanities - B4
If I used it as a guage,
For poly path, L1R4 should 9 (minus 2 points from CCA). Options include TP and SP.
For JC path, which I think is a harder one based on his current subject strengths, L1R5 should be 13 (minus 2 points from CCA). Options include SRJC and TPJC. -
Which poly is better for accountancy?
My son wants to be (or at least now he thinks he wants to be) an accountant in the future. As we stays in changi, the most convenient poly would be TP. However we keep hearing advice that SP is better for this course and of course, there is also some advocates for the JC route to a (local) degree in the future. He is expecting his L1R4 to be around 10-14 points.
Any advice and comments would be much appreciated. -
