No it is not true that you have to take triple science in sec school. The reason why many people take triple science in sec school is because they are unsure of which science they prefer and wish to keep their options open till jc level. But no, the universities do not bother looking at secondary school subject combinations

Hi there. Pure history is indeed content heavy(4 textbooks worth of information), and it's a lot more than just memorizing. History will be good for your son if he is good at crafting arguments. It's sort of like writing argumentative essays in english in addition to the load of content to memorize. Plus he has to think and write fast. He has 1 hour and 40 minutes to finish writing about 7-8 pages.


I personally find history a very enjoyable subject. However some of my friends beg to differ and are struggling with the subject due to the heavy content and inability to finish the paper. I advise you to choose wisely.:)

Hi. From what I know, all or almost all JCs offer these subjects. What I meant was what are the chances of the JC accepting my hybrid combination of chem, math, hist, econs as I know some schools only offer the convention science stream(PCME/BCME) and arts stream(lit, hist, math, econs) routes. Sec one - no need prep.

Hi. Crescent offers three types of main subject combis, double 8, triple eight and also triple 9. Double 8 meaning the student takes 2 sciences, either physics+chem or bio+chem, and one pure humanities and combined humanities. Triple 8 meaning the student takes all three sciences plus combined humanities while triple 9 means that a student takes all three sciences plus a pure humans and combined humans. Minimum subjects to take when students are streamed at the end of sec 2 is 8, however she can choose to drop any of her sciences, humans or amath if she finds that she isn't able to juggle the heavy load at the end of sec3.
As for sciences, crescent only offers pure sciences.

And also just to clarify, taking biology at secondary or JC level is not a prerequisite for the medical field. If your child aspires to be a doctor, chemistry is the most important subject. they have changed the system and hence you no longer need biology to enter the medical field. Hope this clarifies some of your doubts.
