Going through DD's science file for revision and don't quite understand the answer given for this one.

A supermarket gave out shopping bags made of fabric to customers. The bags are suitable because
1. Absorb water
2. Allow light to pass through
3. Are flexible
4. Are heavy

I would choose 3 but it was marked as 1. What is the logic here?

Best person to ask is the teacher

use of fabric bag over plastic will be few reasons
1. If you need to absorb water around purchased product
2. To become environment friendly
Here, nothing is specified. So it looks like error in question as both plastic and fabric bags are flexible.

All rods conduct heat from bottom to top at different rate. Rod that is best conductor of heat will transfer heat from bottom to top fastest and change the colour of strip maximum in given period of time.

the heat sensitive strip will change colour from orange ( here black) to white maximum if the rod is conducting heat very fast.
if we look at the colour change of strips after the experiment, Rod A shows maximum colour change. and rod C shows minimum colour change.
so ans (a) (1)best to poorest conductors are A, D, B, C
(2) As strip on Rod A changes colour from orange to white maximum among all four strips, rod A is the best conductor of heat. While strip on Rod C shows minimum colour change so, rod C is poorest conductor of heat among all rods.
(b) Four rods are inserted through cardboard to avoid heat loss from 1,hot water to the surrounding air and
2, avoid heat loss to the cardboard while heat is passing through the rod as cardboard is a poor conductor of heat.

Hi, need help on the following question. Thanks.

A boy was playing a football game. Which of the following body systems interacted together to enable him to play the game?

A: Digestive system
B: Circulatory system
šŸ˜„ Respiratory system

1) A & C only
2) A & B only
3) B & C only
4) A, B & C
All three systems help to produce energy for playing
Ans (4)

Heat travels from hotter region to cooler region.
Metal box will loose heat to cold ice cube.
Ice cube gains heat here, its temperature increases
Metalbox loose heat, temperature decreases.
Metalbox temperatue gets cooler than surrounding air now, surrounding air will loose heat to metalbox and its temperature decreases.

Agreed

IMHO, the answer is 2.
Temperature of ice remains at 0 degrees Celsius during the melting process.

When ice melts, it gains heat. However, the heat is used to help the particles in ice break away from each other. Thus, the temperature of melting ice remains at 0 degrees Celsius until all the ice has turned into water.

Btw, isn't this a p5 question? Usually water cycles (including melting point) is covered in p5. :scratchhead:
Styrofoam is poor heat conductor. It will transfer heat from coconut milk to crushed ice very slowly. Plus, air pockets in styrofoam will make the heat transfer even slower as air too is poor conductor of heat.
Crushed ice is kept in metal container which is good conductor of heat, so ice will gain heat from surroundings faster and start to melt.
So coconut milk will not loose heat and will not freeze.
If there are overcrowding of seeds, will the plants grow taller (competing for sunlight) or stunted growth (due to insufficient nutrient)?

Appreciate any explanation. Thanks!

Overcrowding of seeds will lead to stunted growth as plant will compete for space, nuitrents, water and sunlight and will lead to poor growth.

Thank you HFPMAT. I recall coming across a question that due to overcrowding, forest trees are known to grow tall in order to compete for sunlight to survive. How do I explain the difference to DS?

Or is there difference between in overcrowding in forest and overcrowding in flower pot. If so, how to explain so as not to cause confusion? Thanks for your time.
Hum m.....That is contradictory...
I think it should be because germinating seed is in initial stage of its life cycle so more chance of having poor growth if do not get enough nutrients/sunlight. While for trees in forest condition is like survivle of fittest.. Your point of potted plant has less space to grow is also quite valid.
