I dont blame you for misunderstand when you thought people called you Tigermum, esp when your child is born in e year of Tiger and to someone who doesnt know who is Amy Chua! What i dont understand is Amy Chua is a person who is very strict to her children, why did 'that person' in that thread wanted to quote MumSAH something about that? Did she show people she is very strict to her DS?? Or that person is trying to ....Dont laugh at me if i made a mistake because i dont understand what 'that person' is trying to say either? Haha that the problem when your Eng is weak..i might be wrong...

By the way, MumSAH, i dont know who is Amy Chua either until i asked my hubby, i too curious, must we know her? Iam too glad that there is people like matadorepy and Innovate who always there to lead rather to tease!

      MumSAH:
Thank you. You are another kind person. Glad you people are there or else i will not dare to speak up again. Happy New Year.
      INNOVATE:

      matadorepy/MumSAH

If you strongly believe in your posts, you are expected to defend vigorously. Nothing wrong with that as long as there's no personal attack/defamatory statement. So far, both of you are doing well. Parents here are mature and intelligent. No problem.

MumSAH, wish that you continue with your posting. Do not be too concern over your standard of english.

Once again, thank you for sharing. My hubby is a legal advisor in an overseas bank and he had heard many of his business partners and friends mentioning this school and most of them (from oveaseas) wanted to send their kids to this school but very very difficult to get in. Some dont give up and wanted to try in year 3. My DD like me (i used to work in finance) liked math and science alot. Hahaha my DD did not wished to follow his dad footsteps... She is more interested in sci research. Anyway iam really glad to know you and hoped one day when my girl ever did have a chance to go in to ths well known sch, she will get to know ur kid because he is sure to be a kind person and a good leader. Thanks for sharing. Happy New Year.

By PSLE in 3 years time, your DD (trust the kids adjustments) may have made significant improvement in both her languages, so not to worry till then.

Well if your DD loves Maths /Science and seriously considering pursueing these areas, NUSH is definitely the best place to enable her to stretch and nurture her love for Physics, Chemistry, Biology(Life science) and Maths.

Future researchers and scientists are the main products of this high school. But if future Lawyers and Economist/Artist/Architect can also be nurtured out of Math/Science school, then it is great. :celebrate:

Beside Einstein, Leonardo Da Vinci, a great scientist, inventor and artist is a named icon in the school (the Da Vinci programme)

You can attend public Open house in early April 2011 not need to wait till P5 or P6 to know more about the school. Visit the school website at http://www.highsch.nus.edu.sg
Thank you. Yes, part of it, no national exam and she is strong in math n science. Languages, we are from HK, so weak. The main reason is that i was hoping that in case in yr 5 or 6, she wanted to switched to major in Economics at least there is another option for her. Actually, pardon me, as i am still very new, what did NUS high really wanted to train this group of student to become? My girl is in p4 only, so only next yr, than i can attend the talks organised by nus high, right?

Hi matadorepy, i can tell that you know this school very well and liked the way you handle questions.
I am new here and from HK, staying in Spore for 4years only. My girl is very interested in NUS High. We have heard of this school while in HK, that part of the reason why i choose to come here with my husband. Can study here, in future, if my kids is interested in major in economics, can she specialise in this field at yr 5 or 6?
A few DSAed appeal to transfer out.
Their COP is 264 and I think not more than handful got thru PSLE-Posting.

NUSHS 90% intake is strictly via DSA meant their requirements are extremely stringent, and their tests (both the GAT and Science Camp ) are extremely intense and decisive. It is like a mini-GEP seeking out those \"math-\" and \"science-\" oriented kids from those who just read up and prepared well for the test.

Every test has it objective and criteria. The PSLE testing/ T-score has its own criteria and objectives. i.e to assess readiness for secondary school, and the T-score ranking for purpose of school placement. A High T-score meant good preparation in all areas, most importantly in MT which distinguish the high 260s and 270s from the 250s/ 240S.

I remember someone in NUSHS (during open house) once said that a high T-score for someone who didn't take the NUSH Admission test does'nt necessarily mean he/she is better or suitable than someone who had a lower T-score (may be due to poorer MT and other reason ) but has been selected via NUSH DSA process. I knew of a few of my DD GEP classmates who scored very impressive T-scores but they were not even offered CO or wait-list in NUSHS during DSA period.

      Hkmum,

To my knowledge, there is a small percentage (abt 10%) of foreign students ( notably more koreans, Japanese, Indonesian and Malaysian) in this year intake. My DD told me of one Malaysian classmate who crosses the JB causeway every morning to school !!!

I assume your DD is considering Y1 entry. 90% Entry for Y1 is entirely through DSA , hence to get in is by no mean easy. 2 rounds of testing same for all (although some claimed that olympiad winners have automatic entry which I doubt ). Yes, NUSHS is hard core Maths n Science but they do have option to take another major like Econs, Literature (hardly anybody), Music, Art etc.

But if she is interested in Econs, then she has many other easier choices of IP school than NUSHS ? Is it becos no national exam ? :?
• RE: 2010 COPs for 2011 Sec One Intake

Hi matadoreply, can tell you are a very kind person. Iam from HK and been here for 4 yrs only. That is why iam going to be very careful when using English as my English is horrible too, in case, people will start making fun of others. That not the main point, i have a question for you and posted under NUS High Math and Science as i think over there will be safer.
I wonder why the intake's so small. Did students decide not to go to NUSH after accepting the place initially?

I think they look for quality rather than quantity. My friend DS 260 w A* in both math n sci cant get a place???
