RE: Flat Feet Problem
Hi MintyMin, which doctor did you see at Orchard Clinic, and how was the experience? My son is 8 and has noticeable flat feet, and we think it could be flexible flat feet. We’d like to get him diagnosed before deciding what kind of treatment he needs.
We have visited 2.ft @Tampines and Foot Solution @Velocity for evaluation. Both recommended that he gets the custom-made insoles. The differences I noticed from the 2 shops:
2.ft program is 18mths, Foot Solution (FS) is 2 years.
2.ft’s insole has an arch at the forefoot area, FS’s insole doesn’t.
2.ft’s insoles are harder than FS’s.
2.ft uses a scanner to gauge the feet pattern, and FS uses a weight distribution pad.
Pricing wise, the package at 2.ft is cheaper than FS.
Both packages includes 2 pairs of insole, with the 2nd pair made about a year later.
Anyone has experience with these 2 shops, and any feedback? They seem to be quite "SOP" on what to do, and I’d like to get some more opinions.
Thanks in advance! -
RE: Student, 12, knocked down at zebra crossing outside school
That should be the zebra crossing nearer to the Indian temple. The crossing right outside the school is traffic-light controlled.
I’ve always educate my son, to watch that the vehicles really stop, even if the pedestrian has the right of way, be it zebra crossing, or at traffic light. -

Oh, the school would start with hanyu pinyin first, then slowly introduce Chinese characters.
Your daughter could be feeling some pressure with Chinese, why not introduce it at a slower pace? I spoke to my son in good proper Mandarin once, and he refused to speak to me for a while. Show her encouragement and don’t hurry her. -

There are no exams for P1 & P2, a MOE regulation. But the school uses "holistic assessment", so there are tests, show & tell’s, spelling & dictation etc throughout the year, to gauge the boys’ learning progress.
My son struggled initially with the spelling and Chinese. But he had caught up somehow. -

All the best! Time really flies; yeah, my kid adapted rather fast to P1 life, and a year has since passed.
To me, \"liking\" the tests is half the battle won. :imcool: -

My son has been in MFC for almost 3 years, and the school recently ran a Pri 1 simulation to prepare the graduation students for transition to P1.
He had a hard time adapting to a classroom setting.
