my stress comes from the difficulty of the subjects especially humanities.

Actually, your stress comes from being kiasu(afraid to lose, afraid they don't do well).

That, is the stress of most parents.

If you could accept whatever would be, would be, you will not be stressed.

Society is cruel, hence, stress is inevitable.

I am not stressed because what I can only do for my girls is to provide the resources for them to prepare well for what they are facing.

We will do on the post-mortem on what went wrong when they get their results and work on what went wrong and that's it.

If I am stressed and get some unwanted stuff in the process just because I am kiasu over results e.g. hypertension, that will really be unwise of me.

My nature and DH's is rather laidback like what some kakis have noticed here because it is just us or in DH's case is that he grew up in Australia with a laid back mentality and as you know...Australians are quite laidback.

    • RE: Mommy Huiwen's Little Corner

ILs brought DDs out for some shopping before attending a wedding dinner tonight and flying back to Australia on Tuesday.

I am pleased to see that DDs enjoy the company of their paternal grandparents very much and interacting with them.DD2 even put extra effort in learning Chinese when my MIL coached both girls for a few days this week in Chinese.MIL taught them things like how to avoid their potential mistakes when writing CL2 essays and when doing Paper 2.

As I was driving DDs to SPCA yesterday morning, I casually asked DD2 if she enjoyed Grandma teaching her Chinese,I sneaked a smile when I saw her face brightened up from the rear view mirror when she answered yes.DD2 actually said my way of teaching them Chinese was very different from her grandmother.

I casually asked her again if she would like to move to Australia for the next 1 and half months to stay with her grandparents at their farm so that Grandma can improve her Chinese.DD2 actually said "can meh Mommy"?

I told her both of us will not be there though…And you could see her deeply in thought haha. And I told her why not I export her to Australia so that she don’t need to study Chinese anymore and can look after Grandpa’s fruits/vegetables,sheep and chickens.

DD2 pouted and said don’t want anymore because when asked for the reason, she cannot see both of us everyday.

Seriously,I was thinking if this move could improve her Chinese,I could send both of them to stay with my ILs in Australia for the next 6 weeks to improve on their Chinese under my MIL’s tutelage and also learn to do some simple farm work like collecting eggs.

Just giving this matter a thought and even if I wanted to,need to discuss with DH first. The girls are going for orientation in early Nov.

I miss Australia and our younger days when me and DH will take a boat out to sea and catch some fresh seafood like fish, oysters, scallops, jumbo prawns and crayfish to cook by the beach.DH will dive down to pick up the crustaceans and shellfishes.

Cooking by the beach in Australia with freshly caught ingredients is really a different experience from having a normal BBQ at ECP.

The new Korean BBQ machines with hanging hobs worked well just now.It was great to see the neighbours chatting, eating and enjoying the food together with one another.I enjoyed especially the slices of Iberico pork, beef slices, prawns and white fish meat. Also not forgetting the kebabs that we prepared as well.

Thankfully,my aunt and her maid helped us to clear up the mess after the BBQ and we were able to rest just after 10pm due to the efforts of everyone in the house.

    • RE: M1, Singtel or Starhub?

The whole family is using M1.I myself prefer M1.

IMO,Starhub’s reception is not that good and when I used ST in the past,my bills are always quite expensive every month.Ther are times when I suspected that I was overcharged.

      zac's mum:
Minister said it's parents' fault; parents said it's MOE's fault. In the end, the kids suffer from overstress.

That's why DH and I kept stressing to our girls that as long as they did their best in whatever they do be it in their academics or other things,we will not blame them even if they failed or did not do well.

If they have failed or did not do well, there is always another chance to make amends. One case of failure does not wreck a whole career.Grades are not everything but what is important is how their characters' develop over the growing up years.

We do not want our girls to grow up soft and weak but teach them to be resilient and not give up in whatever difficulties they face in life.

P5 is old enough to take public bus. Just train them to do it. If not, all the extra arranging will be very stressful.

I find it like what you said...quite stressful to make extra arrangements for transport.

Maybe I should not worry so much and just give them an orientation for the first 2-3 days and ask them call me when they leave the school compound and to keep in touch by phone if any situation crops up.

@zac's mum- Ok,will see how and let you know.DH enrolled DD1 into the guitar course because she had been fiddling with his guitar and looking at his notes.

DD2 loves drawing and absolutely has no musical inclination at all.

Next year is a different story because of homework, tests and exams.
Wah. I will not allow that indoors even when I have a helper. Curtains have to be washed and everything wiped down after that.

At SPCA now and the girls are learning how to feed the dogs after walking and showering them.

We are going to set up a table outside the house and have the \"Barbie\" cum hotpot.

Eating in the open air should not have much problems as long as the front door is closed.

Unless u intend to share with neighbors the food?
I will frown if my neighbors BBQ n eat outside the common areas , the smoke n smell , yeeee.... 😓
All neighbours living on my side, below and above my level are invited for the Barbie.

Birthday boy is giving a treat for his birthday bash and also to celebrate the victory they had in the final of some amateur soccer championship recently.

Some of the children of the neighbours are attending the same school as DDs next year and they regularly have tea parties with each other. They play together too.

We know most of the neighbours and their spouses around as most of the dads are members of DH's weekend soccer team and few of them are my former colleague and JC schoolmates.

I am glad to see the neighborhood kids mixing together happily too.

Birthday boy just woken up after a drunken stupor from drinking too much sake last night though.
