Hi, has anyone tried Hoya Miyosmart lenses before or any other brands of myopia control lenses? I am looking for non-invasive myopia control methods and is wondering whether control lenses are effective. Appreciate review and comments for anyone who has tried it. Thank you.

Hi, i think what you are trying to mean is the alignment of the eyes. Did you bring your child to an eye doctor? There are many ways to go about doing it depending on the type of misalignment and the magnitude of it. Non intrusive usually just helps for cosmetic reasons. Better to fully assess the type of misalignment before i can fully comment.
HI all, I am new here. May I know what is the way to correct my child pupil that is not balance? My child likely suffer from strabismus per what the doctor mentioned. Is there any non intrusive method to correct it? When I heard from doctor may have to go for operation. almost fainted. My child is 3.5 year old -

You are welcome. How old is your child? I would recommend seeing an optometrist. Optometrists can screen the child for any pathologies too. Unless the optometrist detect something amiss, he/she will then refer to the eye doctor. Usually an optometrist working in a well equipped setting would suffice. Hope this helps! TGIF all!
Hi icechendol,
Thank you for your reply. My child was prescribe with -1.25 for both eyes by an optician. Do we make glasses straightaway or is it better to see an eye doctor for a thorough check first? Nowadays, seems like a lot of kids are seeing a doctor, so I am wondering. -

Hi Sam, for non invasive methods - only glasses options.

Miyosmart lenses and Stellest lenses from Essilor both are similar in terms of efficacy.
I have been prescribing both and they both yield good results. Go for it, it definitely is beneficial. Please also do note the external factors such as outdoor time, limiting device time and good reading habits.

0.025 is still alright. How old is your child?
Thanks. Atropine really doesn’t work. We are just starting the higher dose 0.025 now. But will consider OK lens 😓. Very limited screentime now, but the child likes reading.
You can consider myopia control eyeglasses in addition to the atropine treatment as well. So far for my patients, the myopia control glasses seems to yield very good results. (Personally speaking). Of course, the child's lifestyle habits play a big part as well. -

Hi cybergirl, could you kindly ask the first opthalmologist why not? I would really love to hear her thought process and as to why she told you not to..
Any one have experience with using BOTH atropine drops (0.5%) AND glasses lense (not contact lenses) that help to control myopia? Eg Essilor's Myopilux or Hoya MiYOSMART?
One opthalmologist told me NOT to combine the two but another opthalmologist told me it is ok to combine.
Anyone using both at the moment?
Thanks
As for the latter, It is not just ok to combine... In fact, it is better and more effective if combined! :goodpost: -

Hi there, atropine drops are definitely a viable option. Do a search of 'pros and cons' of atropine on the internet and you will get your answer.
Hi All,
My DD's eye sight is increasing at a fast rate. She started wearing glasses at 10+ age, now at 12 yrs her eyesight is 2.5 in both eyes. Dr is recommending to use eye drops to control myopia. Can anyone share their experiences using eye drops. What are the pros and cons once we start using and later we stop it. Any other alternatives we can try to control myopia.
Thanks in advance.
Of course, there are other ways - Good visual habits, controlled screen time, doing more outdoor activities..
Optical wise - Myopia control glasses, soft contact lens for myopia control and most effective one would be overnight lenses (Ortho k). Hope this helps. Let me know if you need more info/advise. Happy to answer!

Hi there, 6/12 isn't exactly in the good vision standard range. Long explanation short, he definitely needs another eye examination for a few various reasons. It is not an emergency, but it is highly recommended you bring your son to an optometrist to see if the vision can be brought down to 6/6. If you look back at previous posts, a few different ways to manage myopia. Your son has a fast progressing myopia rate and it is advised you put him on one of the few methods available to slow down the myopia growth. If you need a more in depth explanation, a face to face consult would be best
Hi everyone.
My kid is 10 this year. In the past 3 years, without glasses, his vision has gone from 6/18 to 6/36. Each year, I replaced his glasses, and his vision, with glasses on, remained 6/12 throughout.
This year, currently at 6/36 (without glasses) and 6/12 (with glasses), I am not sure if I should be replacing his glasses.
I am confused. His vision has been stable at 6/12 with glasses for 3 years. If I bring him to the optometrist, what can the optometrist do, prescribe glasses that improve his vision to below 6/12? Will the intensity or strength of said lenses be too much for his eyes? Since he is already at 6/12, is there a need for new glasses?
On the other hand, even though his vision is 6/12 with glasses, for 3 years, without glasses, his vision has been dropping (6/18 - 6/36). If I do not bring him to see an optometrist now, will his natural vision worsen? Is there even a 6/48 possibility next year?
I have never delve into this before, and just follow the optometrist's advice. Not even sure if the advice had resulted in his vision getting worse! I would really like to find out more this time, and online articles are not helping much. Would appreciate if any experts here can throw some advice my way, Thanks much! -

Yes, they prey on the love parents have for their children..
Kaori1, atropine is one way, you can double up by fitting the child with myopic control spectacle lenses in future as well :).
Sometimes, children don't respond well to atropine. Ultimately is the lifestyle habits. So please try to limit their screen time and try to go outdoors more. -
RE: All About Kids' Eye-sight
I see so many parents here being mislead into thinking SLM can help. The only proven ways are only a few. It can only slow down progression, can’t reverse or completely stop myopia growth or axial length growth…
1. Eyedrops (atropine)
2. Overnight wear lenses (Ortho K)
3. Special soft contact lenses e.g (Misight)
4.Spectacle lenses e.g zeiss myovision, hoya miyosmart, essilor myopilux
