I’ve great difficulty trying to teach maths modelling questions to my DS. Seeking help to share ideas and methods… and what kind of aids / assessment books are useful?

The problem is I can show him 1 type, but everytime the questions change a bit, he’ll get confused and lost…

Some sample questions

1. Lycia has 10 more sweets than Yi Hui. Yi Hui has 3 sweets left after giving away 4 sweets. How many sweets does Lycia have?

2. Elicia has 18 bookmarks. She gives away 3 bookmarks to Cherine. If Cherine has the same number of bookmarks as Elicia now, how many bookmarks does Cherine have at first?

EL worksheets just returned for parents to sign...Synthesis & Transformation was taught using 'because' :shock: Tenses like present, past, continuous not taught yet.

Principal advised parents in letter to revise what has been taught in Term 1. For Term 2, the girls will be taught to write a sentence using the helping words for 6 separate pictures.

Which school is that? Mine DS seems quite simple english for Term 1....

ECA for P1, yes, there's TKD, but I didnt really wish to enroll him as he've other programs during wkends already. Kinda overload his wkend too much.... Wanted to do Wushu, but seems only for kids with some foundation.

I would suggest the early Dec period.

My eldest boy is in P1 this year CZ. Overall, syllabus seems quite relaxed when compared to other schools. Dun seem to have CCA or enrichment for P1. Share your experience?

Hah, trying to legalise Paternity Leave, like in Europe.


The 4 months maternity leave (although partially paid by Gov) already give employer so much man power problem (hear say from friend's live problem), now paternity leave, good for the daddy, but not sure if it will work.

Maybe should have free education till as far as you can go. Only if we find oil well in our waters and land, like Brunei.

I think we should have paternity leave, maybe not 4months, maybe 2 weeks becoz our wives are most vulnerable after giving birth isnt it....

Is 2 weeks too much. Definitely not!!! We man go for reservist 2-3weeks every year. And for sure I cannot be having a new baby every year. If govt wants to take care of employer concerns, just let man skip 1 year reservist! Don't see what's so difficult about that.
