Hi. My son has recently got into combined sciences and he wants to go to medical school when he is older. If he gets good grades for his 5th year O level, he would be able to go to JC. However, I heard that not many JC's offers 2 H2 courses for combined sciences. Any JC's that you guys want to introduce?
      Hallo,
      VJC offers this
My children had classmates who did combined science in sec sch, they got A1 for that and did the 2 related H2 subjects in JC. It was tough but they did well.
As far as I know, no bridging course needed also.
Maybe for the topics not covered in combined sci but done in pure science, you can self-read to further understanding.
There are people who have no background in specific science subjects doing exams that covers them. Nothing can stop you if you are motivated to learn.
Wishing your son all the very best in his applications.

YLL gives $1k for the student to buy iPad.

iPad coupled with GoodNotes or Notability app is a good tool for medical students to take notes with imported pictures.

Hi, may I know if an iPad is necessary for med sch? If it is, what is a suitable size?

It is good to have if you are going for YLL. But for LKC, the students will be issued an iPad for TBL. May I know which meds school that your children has been offered?

Ultimately, iPad is a tool that depends on students needs and how convenient that fits for individual learning.

Your children is eligible for education pricing if you purchase your iPad online. For a IPad with 32Gb, it can as cheap as $450 estimated if you are facing financial matters. iPad mini is also doable for about $500 plus as an estimation.

      Hope this clarifies your doubts.

It cld be earlier for others though

    • RE: Any suggestions for family bonding time??

My children are all teens and YAs. We bond through cooking and eating what they cook : )

Cooking at home more due to CoVid19.
It must be done without the presence of all their handphones though.
It’s rather nice seeing them at home now so often tbh.

After closing date, shortlisting based on both RP and BMAT.

As a guide, last year, RP88.875, 5.2, 5.8, 4A got shortlisted for YLL, Dentistry, LKC.

Based on intake number this year for LKC; eg 150 intake, shortlist could be 3-4 times the intake numbers.

Due to the Covid-19, heard interviews for selected candidates are done thru live video...

heard NUS, done thru live video
NTU, still need to attend personally

For NUS Med, my dd said they never mentioned live vid in the email leh.
Yes, NTU Med must attend personally just like NUS Must ask my dd if it is live vid on-site also.
This year, SMU law interview is quite interesting. Dd says can get to do it in the comfort of our home : )
