may we hear further experience / opinion from more parents (both ex and current) of Haig Girls school ?

My DD graduated from HGS last year. The school provides holistic approach and caring environment. It suited her style of learning. The school is spacious and kids have lots of space to have fun and other activities.

The principal and teachers are friendly and school conducted various workshops to help parents to understand the PSLE requirements and students' progress.

I would recommend this school to parents who want a more holistic approach in learning. My DD is now studying in St Nicks.

      Hope this helps.

Any parents can verify that ?
      Thank you.

Yes, that is correct. This is a day-off to celebrate good 'O'level results.

Heard that St Nick (SEC)is having an Ice Cream Day Tomw,20th Jan.

All Sec SNG Girls will be given free ice cream!!!
      YUMMY :rahrah:

I understand that whenever St Nicks girl came out top in 'O' level exam, the school will celebrate this achivement by giving free ice cream to all students.

So is Faith better or Diligence better? Every mum wants her daughter to be in the best class. 🙂

I believe every student in St Nicks has the potential to do well under the guidance of teachers, with right attitude and hard work.

If your child is in the best class, congrats. Let's not dwell too much into which is the best class etc.

      Ironmanpapa:
      Hi,

I understand that it would be easier for uniform group to get the max points for LEAPS as opposed to performing arts etc. Is that true? I was comparing between different CCAs and the uniform group seems to be the one getting lesser time as compared to the others, athough might be physically tougher... Might need to have two CCAs if these are all performing arts to max the points. Can anyone enlightened me..
It's not advisable to take up two CCAs as this will take up too much of your child's time. Instead, by focusing on one CCA, your child will enjoy and achieve more by taking up leadership role (office-bearers, committee members, captain, higher ranks in uniform group etc), achievement (participate in SYF, inter-school competitions, awards). As such, one can achieve max points in either uniform group, sports or performing arts.

As it is a 4 year commitment, it's important that one's interest is taken into consideration. Hope this helps.

      good that she's ex IJ.

once an IJ girl, always an IJ girl 😂

now she's back as an IJ girl, in a different role to scale St Nick, to greater heights. 🕺 :rahrah: 😄

I heard from a friend whose girls are there that she was the top scorer of her year in Singapore in the O levels. :udawoman:

I attended St Nicks Sec 1 'meet-the-parents' session last night. The principal gave a brief intro of herself. She was from First Toa Payoh Pri, then St Nicks, Hwa Chong JC, Oxford and did her Master degree at Harvard. She also held positions like VP, Principal, Deputy Director and Superintendent in MOE.

She came across as an approachable and caring Principal. She was there with the S1 girls after the 'meet-the-parents' session, mingled with them and even step on to a bench in the canteen to give a speech to the girls. Today, she was at the CCA fair, did the St Nicks family dance with staff and students. I was touched when she asked the S1 girls to thank parents, seniors, teachers aloud so that they can 'feel the love' and be appreciated.
I felt the St Nicks spirit!

Went to the school 'meet-the-parents' session. Before the session started, the S1 girls were having campfire and took a picture. The student councillors were leading them in cheers and games and dd enjoyed herself. http://i39.tinypic.com/15n3znn.jpg\">

According to DD, 1F and 1D are the stretch classes. My friend’s DD had the same T-Score and they are in the same class, so I think the school group Sec 1 classes by T-Score

No matter which class, I believe the girls will receive good quality all-round education at St Nic.
