I think is ridiculous to charge $200 for a 2-hour session. You think the kids really can learn a subject (supposedly for a one year syllabus) in 10 2-hour session ?
How in depth can they teach in 20 hours to warrant that kind of charges ?

RE: Religions and Cults
From my own experience, I know that kids are easily influence by friends. I have been brought to churches before while growing up, and almost got converted.
Therefore, I tried to influence my kids earlier now, before they get influence by their friends when they are older. I send them to Children Dharma classes.
And my 9 and 5 year old enjoyed these classes as I start them young. But it is not easy to convince my 13 year old to go for the classes. (And she had a best friend who tried over the years to invite her to church session, and her mother gave my dd some manga bibles) -
RE: Eczema or Atopic Dematis
Just want to share my experience.
My 5 year old had this skin itchiness problem , I think since about 2 years old. Every night, she would be scratching her head , arms, legs so hard, I felt heartache just looking at it.
But somehow, the itchiness stopped since about 5 months ago.
I had not done anything differently, except that I stopped giving her milk made from cow milk. In place of that, she has been drinking organic oat milk. -

Bowie:
Hi, Bowie,Hi Garang Mum,
Are you in Pat's Jubilee?
How old is ur kids? Full Day?
How much it cost? Heard beri exp.
Sorry for so many qns?
my kids are in Pat's Jubilee. So far so good. My kids love going there. My 21/2 years have become very talkative (when she started , she still could not speak in sentences) Of course, that could be also because she is getting older.
They are there for full days , until 5:30 pm, (by picking them up at 5:30pm, I get $50 discount from Patschoolhouse).
After $300 from government, and $50 from Pats , the final amount is 900+ (including GST). -
RE: Children of average ability
Hi,
yes , fyi, for full day , it is $1250. After 300 subsidy , it is 950. And pat schoolhouse gives a $50 subsidy if you pick up your kid by 5:30 pm.
After adding gst, about $1000. -

RE: Comparing Chinese Enrichment (Primary/Preschool)
Belle:
Thanks, jedamum for the idea.
So do you know of any good mandarin speech and drama class?
I find it quite difficult to coach chinese. Noted that the words the school thought were quite tough these days. Words with so many strokes. Not like the simple words we learnt in our young days.... How to make it easy for our children to remember? -
RE: Elite vs Neighbourhood Sec Schools
insider:
Eh .. my daughter is in RGPS , P6 , this year. I am not aware of any immersion trip to Japan. My daughter went to Sarawak for her graduation trip, cost her $700+.daisyt:

OK, I guess its should not be the \"N ...\" elite girls school and I hope its not because my girl put it as her first choice. Insider ... PM me if you can ... I am worried ... Thanks
I gathered that most elite schools have similar activities as if trying to compete who is organizing the most elaborate/expensive event/etc. Heard RGPS kids went Japan for their immersion program (yet to fish out how much each child paid for that). If primary schoolers went to Japan, I wonder where RGSS girls went to...
I think you should have a feel of your child’s character, whether she is or is not easily being influenced type. I don’t mind putting kids in front of challenges to see how they react and if need to, guide accordingly. Common topics of the girls in my daughter’s school include branded stuff (the latest LV/Chanel wallets/bags), spa treatments, which push up bra gives you the best curve (push up bras for 15 / 16 years old??), how to ‘buy’ a seat in an IB school (for those rich but couldn't make the grade), etc.
Growing up can be a painful process. The kids just have to struggle along the way to differentiate the rights from the wrongs (base on personal values) and learn accordingly.
Ah , may be the immersion trip to Japan is for the gifted classes.
Anyway, for my daughter's six years there, the school has not asked for donation very often, just two or three times. (Mainly in P5 and P6 , because the school is builidng a bigger hall, or a sport hall, can't remember which)
In fact, the school paid for them to take the UNSW tests.
