    • RE: All About Home Addresses

I am shocked at some of the incorrect “answers” given in this forum.

      Here’s the facts:
You must register using the address where you reside.
Where you reside is the address on your IC.
As per the National Registration Act, the address in your IC must be accurate. If it is not accurate, you can be fined up to $5,000 and imprisoned up to 5 years.

      MOE also gives clear warnings:
“MOE takes a serious view of parents intentionally using an address solely for the purpose of P1 registration, and will take action to transfer a child out of a school if it is established that there was an intention to abuse the system.
Parents found to have given false information during P1 registration will be referred to the Police for investigation.
Children who have been admitted based on false information will be transferred to another school with vacancies.”

So the answer is: No, cannot use a second (or third or fourth) property or weekend home as your registered address. Whether it’s empty or rented out is not relevant. You can ONLY use your registered residential address as per your IC, and if you don’t honestly declare your correct residential address for your IC you are clearly committing a criminal act and could go to jail.
