    • RE: Recommended English Books

      Hi TAS,

How about books by Louis Sachar especially the book Holes, the plot looks interesting but not sure if it is good in terms of helping for creative
      writing?

    • RE: English - How to Teach Comprehension Cloze

This is one big-headache area! It is very hard to teach, I tried using newspapers, it helped a little, especially if you put similar stories together, like all accident type together, all health type…but the improvement is not that drastic…I think this component, the children must read and read and read!

    • RE: Shichida Right Brain Training - Discussion

      Hi,

Just to add to what some parents have said, I find that the the kids come out very interested to learn more and are more creative, I might not have seen a lot of academic improvement but I think if everything is solely based on results, it is also very stressful for the kids…I know of some friend’s kids who improve after they go for the ‘drilling’ kind of tuition but after that, they get very stressed and also keep requesting to drop out of tuition…

      Just some thoughts on this:)

      Hi vfong1,

She is now 7 years old, she took about half a year to improve but when she did, it was permanent! At least it seems that way, I have another friend whose 12 year old girl is there, she is now joining SOTA as she really found a passion of the Arts after that!
