RE: Travel: Australia - Gold Coast
Has anyone rented a car from Apex in GC before? Any reviews? How can I apply Australia Visa for family of 4? How much does the visa application cost? Thanks!
Hihi,
I book Apex but in Brisbane, just go online and book with them. Keep a lookout for their promo, take those with 0 access, just in case (*touch wood*) you no need to pay anything. They will need your credit card upon collection of your car for any charges of toll fees to be charge directly to your card. I got my bill 3 weeks later after I return from my trip.
I use kangaroo kang to do my visa, fast & cheap.
Hope this help
Hi Beancurd
Thank you very much for the info. May I know how much does kangaroo kang charge for visa and how to contact her?

25hourmaid:
Hi 25hourmaidNo problem at all, we are all here to help one another.
BTW, just kaypo a bit more. Do you have a second or third child? Girl or Boy?
Why do I ask? Well, if you have a second child who is a boy, then you have to think carefully where you intend to send him when the time comes. If you opt for a co-ed school now, you have one less headache when it comes the the boy's turn, but if you opt for IJ Katong, then you will have to go through the same headache again when it is time for you to register your boy.
That said, there are only 2 co-ed Catholic primary schools in Singapore and bit far for you too if you were to consider them.
On the other hand, there's St Stephen's in the East for your boy if you have one.
Oops, I think I have spoken too much without even knowing if you have a boy or a girl after this first girl!
Yes I do have a 2nd child a boy.
I have taken into consideration about the schools for both of them while choosing a school for my gal. Would prefer them to go to Catholics schools. Where are the 2 co-ed Catholic schools?
As for my boy I may choose St Stephen or Maris Stella. Do you know the academic standard of ST Stephen? How is this school?
Which schools are your kids attending?
Thanks for your prompt and kind advice

RE: CHIJ Family of Schools
25hourmaid:
Hi 25hourmaidActually the registration system is quite simple. This is your first child?
If first child and you want to put her in a Catholic School, you come under 2B for Catholics, same phase for all Catholic schools across Singapore.
However, if she's your first child and you do not wish to put her in a Catholic school, she goes under 2C for any other schools which you have no connection with.
But if you want to put her back at the primary school/s where you or your hubby attended when you were kids, then she goes under 2A2.
CHIJ St Nics Secondary is only affiliated to CHIJ St Nics Primary, not IJ Katong.
Hope that helps.
Yes she is my 1st child, that's why I am so blur.
Thanks very much for the clear explanations. Cheers! :rahrah: -
Mummy jenrence: Newbie reporting
Hi all
I am new in this forum. I am so glad to have known this forum and I find it very useful in helping me to find out more about my DD Pri 1 registration procedures and choice of schools. She will be due for registration in year 2011.
I am interested to know more about IJ schools especially IJ Katong. Anybody have daughters in that school care to share? Thanks! -

mum03:
Hi Mum03Catholics children get into Phase 2B, since you are staying in Tampines the normal rule applies, if there is a balloting for 2B, you will not be out as you stay more then 2Km.
I enroll my DD last year for pri 1 and I live in tampines, under Phase2C, We got in without any balloting, you have to monitor the situation, went on the last day of registration at about 1545hrs to register, to ensure that there will not be any balloting. At the end of the Phase 2C excersice there were 5 Vacancy left over for 2C supp.
Well the school hours are from 0750hrs till 1320hrs. Children as to be in sch by 0735Hrs. i will be able to answer your questions, as my DD is studying in IJ KC.
Thanks for sharing the info.
Is IJ Katong the first choice for yr DD? How do you find the school so far in term of academic and discipline? Does your DD like the school?
I am staying in Bedok Reservoir which is actually not too far away from IJ Katong(10mins) drive but definitely more than 2km from IJ. Prefer a Catholics school for my DD as we are Catholics.
Actually I am quite clueless how does the registration work under different phases. Care to share. Many thanks! Btw is St Nicholas Secondary affliated to IJ Katong? -
