Hi, im looking to put my son there too. Went to check out the centre yesterday but the kids were all sleeping.
Asides from it being too crowded? The classes and teachers all ok?
Civician©:Hi florencetks,florencetks:Hi Civician,
My boy juz started N2 in Carpe Diem Blk 954 too, I find the school too huge with too many kids and can be quite chaotic at times. Son refuse to eat in school today -_-\", very worrying...
I think my son and your son could be in the same class. Ya, I find that there are too many kids too and sometimes during lesson, one of the children can just sneak out and I don't see the teacher in the class doing anything.
Visited the centre yesterday. Th kids were sleeping so took us around the centre. Dont know if its a indian or malay teacher scolding a kid. The teachers all not very young though..
So far i think its ok, only point is the place is a bit run down.
kiasubox:Yup, the in charge now is Florence, I find her a bit blur coz she forgotten my boy's intake is in Jan, but overall she's a nice lady.
The only bad points I could think of is the school very crowded. Got one Malay teacher a bit fierce to the students, but I heard from my husband this Malay teacher is also very caring to the students, anyway she's not taking care of my kids so I got no much comment.
The less experience teachers normally look after younger kids, the more experienced ones will promote to look after older kids in K1 and K2. The teachers consist of quite many PRC and Filipino, but I'm ok with it coz they speak better Chinese and English.
Jan and Feb are normally a more chaotic period coz many new students and new teachers, the school will be noisy with kids crying around. But it'll settle down starting from March, so you may consider put your kids there after March.
When my gal started the school, my helper accompanied her there almost one month, slowly reduced the hours spent with her. The teachers never told my helper to leave unlike other Kindy which do not allow parents to stay in the school for more than 3 days. So far both my kids have smooth transition adapting to the school.
My gal performed on their year end concert last year, I saw her progress from a shy kid to a kid with confidence, I really like how the school has groom her.
Try visit the school during different hours e.g. morning, noon, afternoon to get a better idea of the school. It is open concept so you could see what the kids are doing in the school.
Hi, is the in charge there named florence?
Btw, any bad reviews about this school?
Thanks.
kiasubox:Both my kids are in Carpe Diem of block 954 near Hougang 1 there. So far I like the school very much. The school is old and quite full, but i like their programs and the teachers. Some young teachers do come and go every year, but the locals and experienced ones are there for many years. They are caring and know all the kids by name regardless of whether under their care, they have good feedback and communication system for the parents, I get to view pictures of my kids through their ichild website.
You may see my review and other posts of the school http://learnthefunway.blogspot.sg/search/label/Preschool%20Centre
Ya i wanted to go down to take a look too, will you be putting him there or have you gone down to see the place?
Fq83:Hi mummyMisstinkerbell:I'm very very unhappy with Sunflower Childcare at Hougang Mall. So many greviences. Listing them as follows as factually as possible. Pls judge for yourself.
My son attend Sunflower Childcare Hougang Mall for 2 weeks plus
1) fell sick big time with 3days mc on the 3rd week. A few sick in the class.
2)The sick child had mucus all over his face, teacher did not help
3)Teacher consistently reading Today papers every morning and not looking after children
4)Teacher dont give out breakfast to children if they dont queue up but my son is so young 2+ still dont know how to stop while playing. Reason they give, children had bF at home already! They advice me to give my son milk at home.
5)Operator refuse to refund 1 month deposit because i fall outside the 2 weeks grace. Strictly speaking he is right but my son was sick, he refuse to give waiver so I can only be angry with myself for not being decisive
6)After attending the class and spot check a few times, they dont follow class schedule. So what u see on the wall is for show.
7)PIck up my son during nap time, over heard teacher shouting at kids.
eventually decide to withdraw son cause he is very unhappy and he told me he is sad in school.
Now he is happily in another school.
This is to warn other parents, pls look carefully . They've got excellent location but management wise, weak. The Operator is new and only took over the school this year.
I was about to sign up luckily I sees ur post. I stayed in Hg area too.
Where is ur child now?
Any feedbacks for sunflower at hg??
Or feedbacks for learningkidz at hg green?
Fq83:Sunflower at Hg mall?
I stayed in Hougang too... Visited quite a few schools... Depending on your budget and requirement.
After so much visit I still like carpe diem at Ang mo kio ite. But thinking whether is it wise to put not so near location.
Sunflower is my 2nd choice.
