hi,
i am used an old Kenwood BM passed down to me, the non-stick layer on the kneader has peeled off slightly at several places.
Is it ok to use it to continue making bread?
if not , where to get new kneader?
or does anyone have non-working kenwood bm and don’t mind selling off kneader to me?
TIA!

jnj0910,
No, the outside of pan will not be wet. What they are telling you is to soak and soften the caked bread for easy washing so that it will not scratch the inside of pan to maintain the non-stick properties. Do not leave in the sink to soak, that way the base will be dry.
If you have a pin at the side of the pan, do not remove the pin when soaking the pan so the water will not flow out.
When you wash the pan, hold it by the base. I won't say it is not even water resistant but a little splash on the coupler is fine, just wipe it dry after washing.
Btw, there are 2 models in Kenwood brand. Which did you buy? the $400+ model looks good, with glass cover and auto addition of fruits and nuts. Still thinking about it as the texture seemed as good as my previous Z machine BBCC-S15 which \"died\" on me after 16 yrs. I'm still holding on to it..haha...
Thanks for clarifying Dasalo!
It's an old Kenwood BM210 which my cousin bought 5 years ago and stopped using after a couple of baking sessions.
Got glass cover, but no auto addition of fruits/ nuts so must be pretty basic...
So excited to go and clean uu/wash the breadmaker and breadpan so I can bake with it asap! -
RE: Club Breadmakers
Hi everyone,
retyping previous message as problem with my comp…
need advice on cleaning/washing the breadpan of Kenwood breadmaker which I recently “inherited”.
The manual says the breadpan cannot be immersed in water, but another page says to clean it I need to soak it in water for 10 min.
So I only pour water inside the breadpan to soak?
Surely some water will wet the external, even base of the breadpan where the coupler is… does it really matter?
Thanks for advice! -
RE: Club Breadmakers
t to put water inside the breadpan and wash only the inside, and keep the outside dry?
It’s quite difficult to keep water totally off the outside of pan, I am sure it will get wet in the process of washing…
please advise thanks! -

yes u r right... i'm seeing so many imitations all over... even in ntuc and giant... guess it would only ensure authenicity if i buy from korea... =)
you sure even ntuc and giant ones are imitation?
Janet... do be sure you get the Happy Call, and not another brand. And there are lotsa imitations so ya gotta check that yours is not. Not everything that calls itself HappyCall is the HappyCall. I see imitations everywhere I go... poor ones too... with all the features inconsistent with real thing.Chenonceau:
I am thinking of getting this pan for 2 reasons:
1) fry fish with minimal cleaning
2) fry egg sunny side up (oil splutters)
Saw happy call avail at Qoo...now thinking whether to check out Hancook st James at metro to do comparison.
surely not??
I saw in newspapers announcement from HappyCall Company that they, with isetan i think, were amongst a few local distributors.
So I though only online purchased ones would be more likely imitations... -

Is it fire too strong? I find happy call pan very \"petty\", only small flame need apply. A little bigger then i can sing \"smoke gets in my eyes\" already...
I use normal big /medium flame as with my other pans.
And yes, it does \"smoke\", my kitchen seems smoky like I am bbq-ing food,
the smell even goes to living room/ whole flat.
so must turn to smallest flame??
ah... thanks! -

oh... i think u just hit the nail on the head! The oil comes from the salmon.. salmon will produce a lot of oil..
did you open during cooking? if you open, the oil will drip onto the drain. And if you flip afterwards.. the oil will be all over the place. you try not opening the cover during cooking and see how? of cause.. it needs getting used to.. need to estimate the timing..
yes, i open during cooking to check on the \"doneness\", and i flip, and after a few minutes will open again the check on the \"doneness\" on the other side...
and will repeat a few times if not cooked....
ya, that's probably why my oil drips over my stove, and my kitchen seems oily...
but how to estimate? surely must open to check right?
the size of fish or type of meat we cook is different each time ...
or should I switch off the gas , then open and check? but the food in pan still
sizzles right after switching off leh... -
RE: Happy Call Korean Frying Pan
the water doesn't leak when i turn /flip pan, except from the drain hole.
why is the oil draining out from the drain when I cook even if I dun have added oil eg when frying salmon?
if i add little bit of oil for eg vege, even worse!
really wonder what's wrong with my way of cooking with the happy call pan... -
RE: Happy Call Korean Frying Pan
haven’t had time to check yet, but my aunt and another family friend who got theirs separately elsewhere, also had similar problems and were not very impressed with their HappyCall Pans and so stopped using too…
wondering if there is anything we are all doing wrong…
I just read about the pan tilting up when flipped to prevent oil from dripping,
I tried to improve on that and its better, but still messy… -
RE: Happy Call Korean Frying Pan
Need help from Happy Call Pan experts here!
I got the Happy Call Pan after hearing all the rave reviews, but found it disappointing as when I cooked chicken or salmon, the pan would smoke and the kitchen smells as if I was bbq-ing food, and when I flipped the pan , the oil and grease would drip out on the stove. Also when I open the pan to check on the done-ness of the food, the oil would drip out again from the “drain”. This occurs even when I never add oil to the salmon.
The mess I have to clean on the stove and the splatter when I open the pan to check on the food, and the oily kitchen floor is worse than when i stir-fry!
Am I doing something really wrong??
