Need help from Happy Call Pan experts here!

I got the Happy Call Pan after hearing all the rave reviews, but found it disappointing as when I cooked chicken or salmon, the pan would smoke and the kitchen smells as if I was bbq-ing food, and when I flipped the pan , the oil and grease would drip out on the stove. Also when I open the pan to check on the done-ness of the food, the oil would drip out again from the "drain". This occurs even when I never add oil to the salmon.
The mess I have to clean on the stove and the splatter when I open the pan to check on the food, and the oily kitchen floor is worse than when i stir-fry!

Am I doing something really wrong??

          Hi jnj0910,

From your description, it is indeed messy. When I tried cooking with my Happy Call, it’s quite neat. The smell is minimal & the oil drains tidily to the retainer. Is your Happy Call pan faulty? Could you check with the store you bought it from?

haven’t had time to check yet, but my aunt and another family friend who got theirs separately elsewhere, also had similar problems and were not very impressed with their HappyCall Pans and so stopped using too…

wondering if there is anything we are all doing wrong…

I just read about the pan tilting up when flipped to prevent oil from dripping,
I tried to improve on that and its better, but still messy…

Put water inside the pan. Close the lid.

Then, flip/tile/rotate/rock the pan… as long as the exhaust hole is above the water level, there should be no dripping whatsoever at all.

If there is water dripping out from the side other then thru the exhaust hole… your pan got problem.

Use water to test… so it is not messy.

So that means by right the oil should not drip when flipped over?
Still doing homework before getting it. Saw this brand Hancook St James sold at Metro at $62... Made in Korea. The pans can be separated.

Oil should not drip from anywhere except the opening at the back meant to hot air.

When cooking and flipping, just take note not to let oil flow to that hole.

the water doesn't leak when i turn /flip pan, except from the drain hole.

why is the oil draining out from the drain when I cook even if I dun have added oil eg when frying salmon?
if i add little bit of oil for eg vege, even worse! 😞

really wonder what's wrong with my way of cooking with the happy call pan...

The oil comes from the salmon… salmon will produce a lot of oil…

did you open during cooking? if you open, the oil will drip onto the drain. And if you flip afterwards… the oil will be all over the place. you try not opening the cover during cooking and see how? of cause… it needs getting used to… need to estimate the timing…
