any idea what is the default school a child living in Serangoon will be posted to, if he/she gets balloted out of 2CS?

There is no 'default' school. It all depends on which schools have places left after Phase 2CS.

Serangoon is a big place. For the moment, seems like Zhonghua is available for Serangoon planning area but the child could also be posted to Xinghua (Hougang) or Yio Chu Kang (Hougang) or Townsville (Ang Mo Kio) or Seng Kang (doh!). It's due to the randomness of the posting (or an algorithm that we may not fully understand) that most people would suggest not to test the system if you could avoid the ballot.

I'll do that. I need to withdraw from Marymount before I can register for OLGC, so I guess i need to decide by the morning of last day of registration, to ensure that I meet the deadline.
Is there typically a surge of registration on the last day? Is it too calling it too close If I only decide at noon on the closing date?

I think its not common for your case in view. Less likely for someone who already gotten a place in 2C to give it up and go for another round for a school within 1km at phase 2Cs.

If you are within 1km and no school yet, will rather submit first or sit on the fence. The more people who sit on the fence would mean they are >1km or those similar situation as yours.

It does seem to have a number of spill-over from the other schools in the area. There isn't any number from 2020 to compare as vacancies was all taken up by Phase 2C.

However, I am considering withdrawing her from Marymount convent and applying for OLGC at Phase 2CS. They have 11 vacancies left. How likely will we get in without balloting?

Some background: We are within 1KM for OLGC and out of 2KM for Marymount. I had wanted to apply for OLGC in phase 2C but missed the registration deadline.

in 2019 24 applied for 13 spots, balloting was for those 1-2km.
In 2018, 13 applied for 7 spots, only 1km was admitted.
