    • English for Primary School

      Hie

I’d like to know how is English tested in P2 and above ?

Besides the grammar, vocabulary, composition and comprehension. I heard oral will be replaced by " SHow and Tell "

Does anyone knows how many % are attributed to each
      of them ?

Will " Show and Tell " continue til p6 ?

      Hie everyone

My hubby and self spoke to my son's principal on Wednesday morning. We really thank God he's very supportive ! šŸ™

The principal knows my dear son probably he \"caused\" a lot of problems for the school, the complaints ( from mummy ) and the various stuffs that he did.

Anyway, we're discussing and apparently there are also another boy who's like my son, exhbiting the same behavior as him. So school has experience dealing w such children.

Well, the principal proposed to put my son in the school's Strategic Board Game ( namely chess, weiqi, and scrabble ) next year. So at least he will have proper training from the teachers and have more opponents to play with. And the Innovation and ENtreprenuer Club the year after ! ( usually these are for the upper primary. These activities at least, in the hope of giving ds motivations and challenge in looking forward to going school. The princiapl even spoke to ds, getting to know his likes and dislikes.

His P2 form teacher next year will also be working closely w me, to explore further to challenge him. I really pray his P2 form teacher will be a pleasant person to speak and work with.

      šŸ™

Once again, I'd like to thank all of you again for the idea of speaking with the principal.

      God bless you all !

initially i did not and totally wash my hands off my son's schoolwork. Only helping by giving him guidelines to follow only. i tried my very best not to teach him anything new at all, since mid K2.

      All these :
      1. for fear of stressing him
      2. that he do not listens in class

      2. being the case which occured even while he's in K2 ! Teacher complained to me. So does his music teacher !

SO I \" learnt my lesson \" from his K2 and stop teaching my son.

However, the scenario changed in P1 cause I'd stopped entirely, he, still the same behavior as in K2. This time round he complained class boring ! And on several occasions begged me to homeschool him instead, and wanted me to teach him !

He loves it when I teach him, loves it when mummy teach !

and so history repeats itself, he daydreams in class, maybe sometimes try to listen to please the form teacher.

WHich at one point early this year, everytime he arrives home, he picked up one of his books ( some history or geography ) to read, then the next week, he'll build all his Lego ships, castles
      etc etc.

Me observing by the side, he's doing these with a vengeance, as if letting out and exercising some creative juices and muscles ...... probably an innate reaction from his own body self, gaining back what he had been prohibited or lost for the last 5 hours of the morning while at school . :?

      1. it seems not doing anything challenging is stressing him out very much !

I think our family falls in the same category. :celebrate:

Cause of this myself and dh had a big argument and cold war abt where to put our dear son ! And I give in, leading to such a mess šŸ˜› now ...

i should have insisted in putting him at Maris Stella and the likes,
then probably my darling son wouldnt have to go through those
\" gruelling and boring \" lessons in class. AT least these schools will have more challenging questions and projects to keep his mind busy, happy and occupied ....

Thank you everyone, for your kind help and suggestions. Last night, I ....  😢 😢 :stupid: :?: :?: :?:

Thank you 2ppaamm for your suggestion, tomorrow morning myself and hubby will go chuang the principal's office.

Your sharing and jokes has also help lighten my mood and given me ideas ..

Sleepy : ha ha ah a I also used to tell my boy that even though he could learn and pick up his music pieces much faster than his friends, he still needs to practice more to perfect it, .... even Mozart ( his favourite composer ) needs to practice to express the music right

      Deminc : I loves yr jokes ! ha hah a a
but its true leh .... so its really not so funny to me .... sigh ...

tamarind : I loves your suggestions, thank you ! I will surly use them, especially the last part : stare at him blankly, cause they need to cope with boredom, and keep themselves busy w constructive things, it being a necessary life skill !

Frankly i find it very funny and amusing ! High chance effective on my boy and he'll be amused by it too ! ha ha ha ah a

      God bless u all.

Will share what the principal says ....

Do u know of anywhere which I could bring my son for IQ tests ?
Does anyone has any recommendations ?

What will be the \"consequences\" after the test ? How does it affect their schooling life ?

Seriously, I'm abt at the desperate dead end ! And struggling to \" keep alive \" our situation.

Just yesterday, my dear son said he wanna join student care cause some of his friends are there. With the idea that he could play play play with them, then mummy come fetch him home in evening to eat home cooked food ! ( he prefers to eat in then out )

I believed that he's really doing all these not for my attention, but cause he's really bored at school, looking for something interesting to do. :stupid:
