      2. Tan, Lim and Wong had some pens to sell. Tan had the least number of pens. Wong's number of pens was 30% less then Lim. After Tan and Lim had each sold 50% of their pens, Lim had 95 more pens than Tan. If the 3 men had a total of 330 pens left, what was the total number of pens they had at first?

      Hi

      Lim ------- 10 units

      Wong ------ 7 units

      After Tan and Lim had each sold 50% of their pens,

      Lim ------- 5 units

      Tan ------- 5 units – 95

      Wong ------- 7 units

      17 units – 95 ------- 330

      1 unit ------ 25

      I’ll leave it to you to work out the rest of the details. The answer is 485.

      Best wishes

      Hi, pse assist on the 2 quest:

      1. Miss Wang got her pupils to form a circle. They stood at an equal distance apart from each other and were numbered in order. The pupil with number 5 stood directly across from the pupil with number 19. How many pupils were there in the circle?

      2. Tan, Lim and Wong had some pens to sell. Tan had the least number of pens. Wong’s number of pens was 30% less then Lim. After Tan and Lim had each sold 50% of their pens, Lim had 95 more pens than Tan. If the 3 men had a total of 330 pens left, what was the total number of pens they had at first?

      Hi,

      I think LC is not very good for upper pri students. It's more suitable for pre-school kids.
      hi,

      any sharing which will be better for upper el?

      Hi,

      Pse assist on the following q:

      q1 : The ratio of the num of xavier's stickers to the num of Yvonne's stickers to the num of Zack's stickers was 4:6:7 at first. When Xavier bought another 35 stickers & Yvonne lost 27 stickers, Xavier & Yvonne had the same num of stickers. How many more stickers would Zack have to buy in order to have twice as many stickers as Yvonne?

      q2: On Mr Chan's farm, 70% of his fowls were chickens & the rest were ducks. When he bought another 108 more ducks, the num of ducks on his farm increased by 40%. Afer selling some chickens, he had an equal num of chickens & ducks left. How many chickens did Mr Chan sell?

      q3: At first, Chenxu had 2/3 as many stickers as Weiwei. After Chenxu bought another 3 stickers and Weiwei lost 9 stickers, Chenxu had 5/6 as many stickers as Weiwei. Find the num of stickers Chenxu had at first?

      TIA

      Hi
      Q1.
      X : Y : Z --> 4u : 6u : 7u

      4u + 35 = 6u - 27
      2u --> 62
      1u --> 31

      Z --> 7 x 31 = 217
      Y --> 6u - 27 = 159
      Number of Z needs to buy = 159 x 2 - 217 = 101

      Q2.
      Chickens : Ducks --> 70u : 30u
      Ducks increased by 40% --> 40% x 30u = 12u
      12u --> 108, 1u --> 9
      Ducks --> 42 x 9 = 378
      Number of chickens sold = 70 x 9 - 378 = 252

      Q3.
      C : W --> 2u : 3u
      2u+3 : 3u-9 = 5 : 6
      cross multiply or equalize :
      12u + 18 = 15u - 45
      3u = 63, 1u = 21
      At first C had 21 x 2 = 42 stickers

      cheers.

      Tks Mathizzfun.

      u re great! solution is easily understood except q3 when say cross multiply or equalize..may i know hw to do tat? sorry to bother u again
