Hi WeiHan,I have some questions.
What is RV's school fees for PR and Citizens respectively?
How are the ipad program going? What are the benefits and negatives that parents have discovered?
I am one iPad supporter and I find it useful for the students, eg they brought it to their Australia trip recently. They were supposed to submit their reports and reviews the next morning even they touched down at 10pm.
It was then i noticed that almost all the work were already done instantly on iPad while they were overseas. Pages and pages of reviews were all neatly done and properly organized in the gadget. It allows easy retrieval and amendment to be done easily if required. Adding researched information is easy. It also helps in their project work and information sharing.
I have not seen any negative impact yet, at least for DD.
Btw, the RV students have again done Singapore proud. They are the champion for junior youth physics tournament JYPT 2012 held in Tasmania last month... -

I don't think your child will struggle cos my daughter is taking high Chinese but she also gets about 80+ for Chinese. Your child like Chinese? If yes, should not be a concern.
DD took higher Chinese in primary but was struggling in year 1 & 2. I think it all depends on individual child as Daisyt mentioned and not so much impact on whether they take higher Chinese or not. -

Most, if not all the schools, including neighbourhood schools have chemistry as compulsory subject since many years back, nothing new for this.
According to P, RV strongly encourages students to take Chem as one of the Sc subjects which allows them to do medicine in U too, if they want to (?!?)WeiHan:
So what are the advantages of limiting or totally phasing out triple sciences at O level?
Why isn't there any faculty in U that requires biology at H2 level as a prerequisite?
I am very surprised that NUS (medicine) would take in a student who did Chem but not bio.
I think somebody has mentioned that due to A level requirement on the contrasting subject, the 3rd Sc subject becomes \"reductant\" in the calculating of scores. -

Why is it that triple sciences still a popular choice, is it because of the mindset that those who are taking triple sciences are the better ones?
Triple Sc combi is still a popular choice in many schools for Y3 – including the “good” IP sch.starlight1968sg:
Yes, the P knows more than us.
It is pointless to do triple Sc nowadays. The prob is which 2 Sc subjects to take, noting RV encourages Chem as one, which means we are left with either Phy or Bio.
I wonder if this is inline with other IP schools.
I was thrilled when the P mentioned that we should not compare our revised curriculum with a non-IP sch (as suggested by a parent) but with a \"good\" IP sch
Do you know how many Y3 triple Sc classes does the P plan to limit?
I do know of some of my dd's friend chose not because they want it but rather their parents wanted it. -

For this year, the students are allowed to take triple sciences as long as they qualify. However the 3rd science is considered as elective and not counted in GPA.Do you know how many Y3 triple Sc classes does the P plan to limit?
Err....If my memory din fail me, thought i read from here that the sch removed the option for 3 S, not limit the classes ?
It encourages only those who are really strong in science, have good time management and have the interest to take the additional subject.
As far as i know, those who met the creteria and opted were all granted.
