NT - ENglish, Math, Science, Chinese, Computer Applications, Design & Technology, Food & Consumer education, Art, Music & Social studies.

NA/Express - English, Chinese or Higher Chinese, Math, Science, Geography, History, Literature, Design & Technology, Art, Food & Consumer education & Music.

      Hi Kamsy,

Thank you very much for the info and comparison. NT is quite a vast difference from NA & Express especially without Geography, History and Literature.

I suppose subjects examinable at N level will be all NT subjects except music and social studies because they are not pre-requisites as admission criteria to ITE? Can Computer Applications be used as subject for admissions to ITE?
      [/quote]

Hi, sorry for the late reply. I am also not quite sure abt the subjects for admissions to ITE but English or Math seem it’s a must too.

      Hi there,

I would like to ask if N(T) students would study fewer subjects that N(A) or Express students or would the number of subjects be the same except coverage will be smaller?

Assuming D&T is available, he should take that. Otherwise, music.

Not wanting to sound rude, it really doesn’t matter what he takes as the subject overall impact is minimal. If he remains in NT, his academic pathway is limited and relatively fixed. Therefore, he should consider a subject where it may be useful for ITE - hence, EBS or D&T.

I’m okay, open for discussion since i posted it out.
Another problem is should he stick on SBB in Sec 3? He is in NT but taking English, Math & Science for NA stream.

Art and EBS come with prerequisite. Does he meet the requirement?
D&T and EBS would probably be the most useful / helpful.

His English & Art barely passed.

      Base on this website: https://www.seab.gov.sg/home/examinations/gce-n%28t%29-level/2019-gce-n%28t%29-level-syllabus-for-school-candidates

      Art Syllabus T #
Design and Technology Syllabus T #

      # To be examined for the last time in 2019

Not sure will these 2 subjects be gone...

      Hi all,

which to choose, art, D&T, EBS or music?

Apparently son’s school only have the above but
Art must be grade A or B
EBS: English must be above 60

Son wanted F&N but only offered for NA

      Thank you

From NT to NA stream, you need to obtain average 70% of all the subjects the child is taking. Apart from that, English or Math must be above 70 too. This is what the school requirement as per my son.

Only Sec 1 and Sec 2 you can be promoted. Sec 1 NT to Sec 2 Na, Sec 2 NT to Sec 2NA (Need to retain one year as they need to take up subjects like Lit, Geo & History.

      Hi iluvjr2,

for those in NT, they will be given a chance to take NA subject based on PSLE results. Like my son, he took English & Science in Jan 2018 and after June, he took up Math for NA too. I cannot remember was it during the orientation day.

      swortionery,

thank you for the article, a nice article to read about.

My son scored only 136 for PSLE last year, he cried as he couldn’t make it to NA stream, went into NT stream instead. Well, told him it’s not the end of the world. Life still goes on!
He did English and Science for NA stream - subject banding when Jan started. During his mid year, he was offered Math for NA stream. So basically he took 3 major subjects. Before he took his result, feel he has got anxiety as he cried before knowing how he fair. He only scored 65.3%, he couldnt go NA stream as NA required 70%. That’s another setback.
I wonder in Secondary 2, should he still take 3 NA subjects…

He changed his hp wallpaper to - When the world says "Give up", Hope whispers "Try one more time".
