      We can’t see the rest of the question, but I don’t think it matters because if the baby is O, then it has inherited one O gene from the mother and one from the father thus showing it comes from the egg nucleus should be enough.


      For example if baby is blood group A, we need only label where the A comes from, IF baby is B , we label where the B comes from be it from mother or father. If baby is AB, label both sperm and egg. It’s all because O is recessive.

      Let me try. This is my interpretation. Are my answers different from model answer?

      It was given that A and B eat pond animals only.

      From first graph, because of information given above, B prey on D.
      (When B decreases for whatever reasons, D increases since there are less B to prey on D)

      From second graph, same reasoning above, A prey on

      From third graph, D prey on C.

      a)

      Pond plant ----> C -----> A

      Pond plant -----> D ----> B

      Pond plant -----> C ----> D ---> B

      b) D
      (From the food web, D (predator) prey on C and D is a prey to B.)

      I agree with you Kang, as your answer is consistent and viable. However,I believe that your answer does not ignore the given information that A and B eat pond animals only. The question mentioned that 'three tanks ...[filled with pond water]\" the key here is what exactly is in the pond water? It is highly likely that there exists microscopic plankton that are suspended in the water, and these plankton can be classified as phytoplankton and zoo plankton.

      Examples of phytoplankton like cyanobacteria can actually make their own food and are often called the \"plants of the sea\".
      Zooplankton feed on phytoplankton and may consists of small animals like krill(shrimp) and worms .

      Thus my conjecture is that A and B actually feed on zooplankton,which are the the \"animals in the pond\" . If this is the case, and the pond water does contain plankton, then the correct food chain is:


      Phytoplankton-->Zooplankton ---> A ---> C ----> D
      Phytoplankton-->Zooplankton ---> B ----> D

      Please correct me if I am wrong, 😓 but I believe that this is very likely to be the case. 😄
